Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 19, 2008 Super User Posted December 19, 2008 BassBoss, Ill finish up with this thread and just wish you the best of luck. I hope you take some of my advice and not think im just bashing you. Good luck in life. That works for me too. Good luck, I'll only watch from the sidelines.
Bassboss Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Congratulations! Is there any way you could skip another grade, or is this a one time thing? Depends on if the high school I go to has the program, I'm still a grade or two behind, even with the promotion. I guess theirs doing the old fashion way, be a total braininess!
Tokyo Tony Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Keep up the hard work Bassboss I think the reason you might catch a little criticism is that often it's tough to know whether you're telling the truth or perhaps stretching it a bit - there is a lot of conflicting information. For example, if you're in school, how is it that you're able to post all day long? That aside, it's obvious that you're a good-natured and well-intentioned person, which is more than can be said of a lot of people in the world.
done Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 BassBoss, As other have said, don't take anything these guys throw at you too personally. I am sure you have gotten plenty of stuff from others so you probably have a pretty thick skin by now. Sometimes folks bloom a little bit late. I wa snever held back in HS but it did take me a rediculous 4 years to get through a 2 yr college. Apparently, your BAC does not get you any credit towards yor GPA. Who knew!? Anyway, i bounced back from that and kept a near perfect GPA at my 4 yr in getting my BS and have done extremely well at my career. I guess what i am getting at is, keep your eye on your schooling. Do not ever let it drop, and take advantage of the extra time you have spent there and excel. 2 or 3 extra years in HS won't mean anything when you are 30 yrs old. But at your age you ar rapidly approaching the put up or shut up point in time that will significantly determine the course of your life. So congrats on getting into HS, now go there and kick some tail!
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Well, you and I have been at odds since day 1 but a little explanation can go a long way. From now on, I will view your interactions as a teacher would, or a parent. I will force you to face your grammar and spelling issues with support and testing and will put my previous frustrations in check. Be prepared, if you want to spend as many hours here as you do, it will now become work. Work that will improve your chances for success in this world, once you become an adult. I encourage others to join in and support him with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, if that's not possible, please just hold your tongue on the whole topic. Lesson 1- I modified your signature,...NEVER put that much REAL personal info online, for obvious reason.
Super User firefightn15 Posted December 25, 2008 Super User Posted December 25, 2008 Great idea Russ, I think that is a positive and constructive challenge for everyone. BassBoss, congrats on making the grades, now get ready for some tuff love man. You have some heavy artillary on your side here at BR, help them help you.
crazy4bass1 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 man i sure wish a 79.9 was a B in my school........ also he may be able to post throghout the day becus its xmas break
Super User cart7t Posted December 27, 2008 Super User Posted December 27, 2008 congratulations..... I think. Not a bash on you but I'm wondering about the grading system that allows a student to pass through a grade(s) with B's or C's? It would seem to me that to show mastery of grade level course content, a grade of at least a B with at least several A's thrown in should be required. And a grade on conduct? I thought that kind of thing was reserved for grade school? Not a bash on you or your accomplishments. I noticed the problems in our school system when my son was going through high school. They've dropped the bar so low to graduate it's no wonder todays youth are seemingly so under-educated when they get out of school. It's all about "no child left behind", MAP testing grades and how much the next teacher raises will be. If you're a student that really has desire to learn, finding a teacher that really cares and isn't just going through the motions is tough. IMO, the public school system needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. It's failing our youth badly.
Super User Muddy Posted January 6, 2009 Super User Posted January 6, 2009 An update on our little buddy.
