fathom Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 congrats to the nutt and team ole miss for proving once more that an espn "football analyst" is just another dumbazz in a more expensive suit. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Watched it today at work. Great game. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Houston Nutt is a fine football coach. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 This was just his first year. No telling how well they're going to play next season. The rebels are shaping up to be a great football team. It just shows how much getting a new coach will change things. Congratulations to him. Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Nutt took the SEC Big 12 rivalry to the next level Quote
BassinSoldier Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 This is coming from a HUGE Gator fan-----Ole miss did a great job!! Way to represent the SEC!!! Great job! Now, enough of that...#&$* rebs... ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Hat's off to Ole Miss! I know they beat Florida, but I'm still surprised they beat Texas Tech... 8-) Quote
Daniel A. Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I know they beat Florida, but I'm still surprised they beat Texas Tech... Ole Miss understands the importance of defense and how to play it. ;D Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Houston Nutt is a fine football coach. ...and a terrible recruiter. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Ole Miss won and Alabama lost. Go figure? Herb-street said Georgia Tech would beat LSU by 20 points. Go figure? Talking heads, with the exception of Mark May, have been wrong more than they have been right. Especially Herb-street who flaunts the Big 10 everytime he can. Fun football season this year and great bowl season, too. Ole Miss and LSU will reload; Florida will continue to dominate if Tebow returns; Georgia looks to turn it around; Kentucky will have another "crazy" quarterback next year; and Alabama starts a new QB so Satan will be in the tank, again. Joe McKnight did nothing in the Rose Bowl. He should have gone to LSU. McKnight is like a Jaguar. Runs great but it is in the shop way too much. Nine months to go before we tee it up again for college football. Can't wait! Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 Nine months to go before we tee it up again for college football. Not so fast Sam, some people's teams are still playing. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 Houston Nutt is a fine football coach. ...and a terrible recruiter. Darren McFadden and Felix Jones would disagree. Quote

Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 About Nutt: 4 RB's, 2 ath that were recruited as RB's = 6 RB 1 kicker committed, with a scholarship offered to another one, that would = 2 kickers 6 DB 0 DT 3 DE 4 OL 1 LB 1 TE 1 WR 0 QB For 2009, only two 4 star recruits, one is a running back, the other is a juco defensive back that was kicked off of Florida two years ago for using a dead girl's credit card. avg. star rating = 2.75 41st ranked class in the nation. D-Mac would have played for the Hogs if I was the coach and Tin was the Offensive coordinator. Quote

If I had a dollar for every 'five star' recruit that didn't amount to a hill of beans, I could buy a very nice used boat. Quote
1inStripes Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Exactly. Good coaches find diamonds in the rough, and/or makes the players they get a lot better than they were projected to be. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 I guess we shall find out soon enough. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 I guess we shall find out soon enough. If you're a recruiting expert, then you also know that Ole Miss isn't an easy place to recruit. Starkville and Oxford aren't exactly the garden spots of the SEC. That said, David Cutcliffe showed what was possible at Ole Miss. Of the two MS schools, Ole Miss is the better of the two. Houston Nutt did a fine job this season with Ed Orgeron's players. He consistantly kept Arkansas in the race for the SEC West. In summation, as I said earlier in this thread, Houston Nutt is a d**n fine football coach. Quote
