Super User Tin Posted October 31, 2008 Super User Posted October 31, 2008 V-Tek to the Tigers?!!!! Nooooooooooooooo..... Quote
llPa1nll Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I heard that rumor to Tin, very troubling. I bet its just Boras being Boras. Trying to get some talk out there started. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 6, 2008 Tek may be the most underrated player in baseball. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 11, 2008 I miss baseball already. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 12, 2008 Super User Posted November 12, 2008 I miss baseball already. Me too Hook. Fortunately we'll have a flurry of trades to follow all the way through the winter meetings. Before you know it, it'll be two weeks 'till pitchers and catchers report. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 12, 2008 Super User Posted November 12, 2008 OK the series isnt over yet but lets all start talking off season deals who gets who. Where will Manny Ramirez, C.C. Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, Rafael Furcal, Pat Burrell, Adam Dunn, A.J. Burnett, Ben Sheets, Ryan Dempster and Francisco Rodriguez end up? Also who makes a deal for Jake Peavy. Lets talk most likely the Yankees will be landing big names and paying out allot of money this off season. Lets hear what you guys think what teams get who... Now it looks like the O's are in the mix for Manny, and the Halo's just may resign Texeria. If I had to guess... Sheets to Houston, Dempster resigns (unless the chubbies can pry Peavy away from the braves), and CC goes to either LA team or the dreaded yanks. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted November 12, 2008 Super User Posted November 12, 2008 Pre season ticket sales are down, and if the Auto industry can't pay that top dollar for advertising, do not be surprised if there are less big moves than the last 4 or 5 seasons. How bout that , the only thing I called right Sweet Lou:NL manager of the year, and well deserved 8-) Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 13, 2008 Super User Posted November 13, 2008 Hey Muddy, looks like Randolph found a new job on the Crew's bench. What should we expect out of him? Pro's, Con's? Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 5, 2008 Super User Posted December 5, 2008 Big trade today outta San Diego, but it doesn't involve Peavy. Looks like the Pads sent Khalil Greene to the Cards for relief prospect Mark Worrell and a PTBNL. Greene will make 6.5 mil in 09'. Ouch! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Ouch indeed but ill pay that money for his glove and the chance of a season like 2007 where he hit like 26hr in a very hitter-unfriendly park in petco. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 The rumorboards are filled with chatter about Peavy to the chubbies. God I hope this one falls apart, because that rotation would be downright scary. Apparently the chubbies are also in "intense discussions" with Milton Bradley. Gulp. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 Hey Muddy looks like the Mets bolstered the pen today, landing K-Rod with a three year $37MM deal. Pretty cheap, considering the numbers that were tossed around a few months ago. The Halos will take possession of the Mets' #25 pick in the 09' draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3756383 The latest rumor is Kerry Wood to sign with the Indians, we'll see.... Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 Thank God, A true closer, and Martinez will be pitching elsewhere! Looks like they may go after Manny, I don't know if they want him, or do not want the competition getting him more. We still need a set up guy. Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Hey Muddy looks like the Mets bolstered the pen today, landing K-Rod with a three year $37MM deal. Pretty cheap, considering the numbers that were tossed around a few months ago. I'm not sure how that'll pan out for the Mets. The Angels padded K-Rod's stats. He's losing some velocity, and some of the advanced reliever stats are heading south. ...but, we'll see. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 K-Rod enters game, he makes the last 4 outs against major league hitting, gets save, THAT'PADDING THE FIGURES? True stoppers adjust as their velocity goes down SEE: Dennis Eckersly Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 The Angels brought him in several times with two outs and a runner on first. He "earned" a save because the tying run was in the on-deck circle. : I remember when people were mentioning him as a possible MVP candidate, but he wasn't even the best reliever in the AL. If I'm not mistaken, Rivera was MUCH better. This may be worth a read. If you look, there's several more articles like it. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8919700/K-Rod-will-have-to-step-up-his-game-in-the-NL-East I'm only saying I hope it's worth the Mets' money. They certainly needed a closer. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 10, 2008 Super User Posted December 10, 2008 Hey Daniel; As much as I hate the Yankees, I agree Rivera has been the best closer in the game for years, hands down. He also has earned the same kind of (cheap) saves, they all do. Manuel knows relief pitching, unfortunately he did not have any chance to show his expertise and Randolph didn't for that matter either. I think one more quality starter and definitely a set up man would be money more wisely spent on Manny. Knowing Minya, he will spend it on Manny Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Muddy, it looks like Minaya heard you. He's interested in... RESIGNING PEDRO MARTINEZ?!?!?!? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 10, 2008 Super User Posted December 10, 2008 He has a bad habit of signing the older Latino players that he cut his teeth with. The Mets have become a retirement plan for them, it really gets me ticked off > Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 The Met's got Putz for the set up role. The Yank's got C.C. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 What will the Sox do with Teixeria? That means someone is going.... The Met's seem to be where good players go to become :-X I just don't know how much longer K-Rod's body can hold up with that violent delivery. Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 The Sox will ship off Lowell once other teams see he is healthy. Also, what about Smoltz and the Sox?? Oh, and Manny isn't happy with the lack of interest in him...so he might retire. : The Yanks still have a lot of work to do. They're going after Burnett hardcore. He'll end up on the disabled list when he hurts himself signing the contract. ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 I used to love baseball, but that was before the World Series strike. If I cared a thing about the game today, I would be appalled by the business platform they operate from. Individual players on "money teams" are being paid more than the ENTIRE roster of lesser franchises. It seems the only reason Kansas City has a "professional" baseball team is so the Yankees will have someone to play! Major League Baseball is a joke! :-X Quote
