Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 7, 2008 And Bay is lucky he didn't break his hand when Napoli stepped on it as he was sliding in. I saw that on the replay. He's lucky Napoli didn't put his entire weight on his hand. Manny Who? ;D Don't say that yet. Knowing our history he will hit the game winning home run in game 7 at Fenway in the WS and begin another 86 year curse. We don't have to worry about that. Â He'll be out for the series with a concussin after Beckett nails him. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted October 20, 2008 Super User Posted October 20, 2008 Rays versus Phillies.  Cool.  It's kind of nice to have some teams, other than the usual suspects, in the Series this year.  It's been a long time for the Phillies and, of course, this is the first winning season the Rays have ever had.  Love it.  Just for perspective on the Rays, check out their historical record below. Year League Record Finish/Rank Manager High OPS Low ERA Year 2008 AL East 97-65 (.599) 1 Joe Maddon Longoria Shields 2008 2007 AL East 66-96 (.407) 5 Joe Maddon Pena Kazmir 2007 2006 AL East 61-101 (.377) 5 Joe Maddon Crawford  2006 2005 AL East 67-95 (.414) 5 Lou Piniella Cantu Kazmir 2005 2004 AL East 70-91 (.435) 4 Lou Piniella Huff Hendrickson 2004 2003 AL East 63-99 (.389) 5 Lou Piniella Huff Zambrano 2003 2002 AL East 55-106 (.342) 5 Hal McRae Winn Kennedy 2002 2001 AL East 62-100 (.383) 5 Larry Rothschild and Hal McRae Vaughn Sturtze 2001 2000 AL East 69-92 (.429) 5 Larry Rothschild Vaughn Lopez 2000 1999 AL East 69-93 (.426) 5 Larry Rothschild McGriff Witt 1999 1998 AL East 63-99 (.389) 5 Larry Rothschild McGriff Arrojo 1998 Quote
llPa1nll Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 The rays have been terrible for quite some time. It was so bad for so long that those of us in Red Sox Nation would call Tropicana Field "Fenway South". Sox I hope are looking at that Peavey trade. and maybe Texeria if Lowell is going to have continuing health problems. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 22, 2008 Super User Posted October 22, 2008 The Series starts tonight. Â Who's rooting for whom? Â I'm looking forward to it but it's not really a big deal to me who wins or loses. Â Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 22, 2008 Super User Posted October 22, 2008 I'm still wearing a George Brett .400 button! 8-) Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 22, 2008 Super User Posted October 22, 2008 That was some time ago, Kent. Â I was a Royals and Brett fan, but I've followed the Cardinals from my youth, so the Royals take a back seat to them. Â Quote
llPa1nll Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 OK the series isnt over yet but lets all start talking off season deals who gets who. Where will Manny Ramirez, C.C. Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, Rafael Furcal, Pat Burrell, Adam Dunn, A.J. Burnett, Ben Sheets, Ryan Dempster and Francisco Rodriguez end up? Also who makes a deal for Jake Peavy. Lets talk most likely the Yankees will be landing big names and paying out allot of money this off season. Lets hear what you guys think what teams get who... Quote
Super User Muddy Posted October 29, 2008 Super User Posted October 29, 2008 I will stick with my Met's: I get paid a whole lot less than MINYA but this is the best fix 1. We NEED RELIEF PITCHING:: we need these 3 and nothing short: Francisco Rodriguez, Brian Fuentes and Juan Cruz 2. Get rid of Delgado while we can and get a youthful firstbase man who will be there for a while, it will free up some money. We would lessen the chance of him tanking/getting hurt like PEDRO did and get stuck with the balance of his contract. Why wait til you have to trade him, lets pull the trigger now, with him coming off a good year. 3.Sign CC, we need one more starter Quote
llPa1nll Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I cant see CC going anywhere but the Yankees, myself. No idea where Manny will end up. I hope the Sox pickup Mark Teixeira, that also means Id have to say goodbye to Mike Lowell, which Id hate to see. Sox need to look at their mid relief as well. Also thing with CC is that the Brewers used him up like 3 or 4 starts on three days rest. He just might be damaged goods. I wouldnt mind to see a deal made for Peavy, as long as the price to get him wasnt to to high. The Sox have allot of money to play around with No Manny salary on the books and no Schilling either thats near 35mil to play with. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 29, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 29, 2008 I don't even know who's going to be the Sox's catcher next year. Â I'd hate to see Tek go, but it's a good possibility that he will. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted October 29, 2008 Super User Posted October 29, 2008 Earlier this season a guy who I am friends with in Brooklyn and my Uncle , brought up an excellent point about the Met's; YOU CAN NOT HAVE A GOOD TEAM WITHOUT A GOOD AND STRONG CATCHER. I believe this to be true, Â we always had a good catcher on our better teams; WE ARE SERIOUSLY LACKING ONE NOW! Â I just do not see us going anywhere without getting at least 2 quality set up guys and a true stopper. We are in a mess. Quote
CJ Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 To bad Tampa Bay don't have Albert Pujols! Â ;D Quote
CJ Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Congrats to the Phillies! Way to represent the NL! Brad Lidge finally got his redemption. I'm proud for him. CJ Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 Looks like the Crew inked Ken Macha to a two year deal today. Â I wonder if Mike Maddux will stay, or go to Texas as rumored? Quote
