CJ Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Ohhhh... you mean there really is such a thing. Maybe somebody could start a "The Super Bowl is in sight" thread! For my WS picks. It would be blasphemus for me to pick that one team. :-X I'll take the Angels and Cards. It's rare for the two best teams (on paper) to make it to the fall classic. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 6, 2008 Super User Posted August 6, 2008 Geez....Football starts in five weeks... : And that has what, exactly, to do with this thread? : Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 6, 2008 Super User Posted August 6, 2008 Oh great, now we are only 2 games out, this is gonna be a long trek to futility :-? Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 7, 2008 Super User Posted August 7, 2008 I do not have the time or the desire to do this, I bet if you look at all the Box Scores for the Mets after the 7th inning , at least 40 % of the runs they give up are in the last 2 innings. Blew it again! Quote

Super User Muddy Posted August 7, 2008 Super User Posted August 7, 2008 The Rays are in the hunt, but both and the Sox and the Rays should not underestimate the Angels , who got even stronger last week Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted August 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted August 7, 2008 The Rays are in the hunt, but both and the Sox and the Rays should not underestimate the Angels , who got even stronger last week I agree 100% with you Muddy. I've underestimated the Halo's all year until recently. They'll be hard to beat in October, especially without Manny. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted August 8, 2008 Super User Posted August 8, 2008 The Rays are in the hunt, but both and the Sox and the Rays should not underestimate the Angels , who got even stronger last week I don't think anyone is underestimating the Angles. They definitley are the cream of the crop. Their pitching is very good. Saunders, Santana, and Lackey have been lights-out for the most part. Santana's BB/K ratio is 39/150. F-Rod pretty much has Bobby Thigpen's save record within reach (45 to 57). The addition of Teixeira not only takes A LOT of pressure of Vlad, something the Halos have needed for several seasons now, but it also gives them one of the most feared 1-2 punches in all of MLB. Super User Muddy Posted August 8, 2008 Super User Posted August 8, 2008 OH MY! HEILMAN JUST WON HIS SECOND GAME OF THE YEAR!, Maybe Minya can trade him while he is hot! Quote
CJ Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 What is Ryan Franklin on?!? I don't know what pitch he was TRYING to throw but he needs to stick with what he knows whether it be good or ...well pathetic. It is killin' me to see quality starting pitching getting flushed away by the bullpen and lack of run support. > Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted August 9, 2008 Super User Posted August 9, 2008 Another complete game shutout for CC. The big man gives up none and K's nine. This is Sabathia's fourth complete game since being traded to the Crew. In his seven games as a Brewer, he's 6-0 with an ERA of 1.58. Someone is lookin' for a big payday this offseason, perhaps eclipsing Santana's numbers. Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted August 9, 2008 Super User Posted August 9, 2008 That or Yost is trying to ruin Sausage Boy's arm. You know the old saying, 'beat it like a rental.' There's no way Melvin is going to give up a stud prospect like LaPorta and not get his $'s worth. Quote
