Super User Tin Posted December 12, 2008 Super User Posted December 12, 2008 I used to love baseball, but that was before the World Series strike. If I cared a thing about the game today, I would be appalled by the business platform they operate from. Individual players on "money teams" are being paid more than the ENTIRE roster of lesser franchises. It seems the only reason Kansas City has a "professional" baseball team is so the Yankees will have someone to play! Major League Baseball is a joke! :-X It's ok, just walk away from the computer, light up one of your Virginia Slims, and you'll feel better. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 12, 2008 Super User Posted December 12, 2008 You know a lot of things Kent, but you do not know about baseball. Baseball needs some kind of revenue sharing, but I know you were a KC fan at one time. Please note that KC are notorious under payers and have a rep of making once every 25 year runs at the WS and then selling the team off for profit, So that puts KC on an equal but opposite part of the same problem( as the Yankees,Mets,Dodgers and Boston) KC, The Oakland A's The Angels and the Cubs are all on the other side of the problem .Stick with She Mano Reels and the economy Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 12, 2008 Super User Posted December 12, 2008 Yep, I'll stay away from this thread. The only reason I posted was because the player trades and salaries were brought up on a radio station I listen to. For a fleeting moment I recalled fond memories from "back in the day." :-[ Quote

Super User Muddy Posted December 13, 2008 Super User Posted December 13, 2008 What a Christmas for Mets Fans; Shoenweis and Heilman both GONE!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Too bad it happened now for Willie, Randolph had no bullpen and took the blame for Minya's dismantleing of the bull pen to begin with. We lucked out as Manuel, a fine manager in his own right was here with us already I still hate the fact that Minya is trying to keep Pedro The Often Hurt and Ineffective One wih us and may be going after Rameriz. Minya has gone a long and intellegent way to undo the mess he created. This is the sign of a good GM, he is learning from past mistakes. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 13, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 13, 2008 The Yanks are buying themselves out of trouble again... Quote

Super User Tin Posted December 17, 2008 Super User Posted December 17, 2008 How can Teixera turn the Sox deal down? ;D Just heard on the news they have offered him 8 years at 25-30 million a year. Plus it is with a winning ball club. Hope he forgets about the Nats and Orioles. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 No way Tex turns it down. Tex plays first, Youk moves to third and Lowell hits the road. Even if they lose money on him they'll make back up when they win the series next year. lol Sox are gonna be sick next year as long as their pitching comes through. Maybe even if it doesn't. lol Elsbury Pedroia, Papi hopefully behind Tex, Drew, Youk. I can't wait for Spring Training to start! Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 17, 2008 Super User Posted December 17, 2008 Despite the Jackyl and Hyde syndrome and injuries that Burnett, Joba, and Wang suffer from and CC's physical pounding he took last year the Evi Empire's front four are scarey. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Rays are going to be solid again next year too. With the addition of Tex I still like the Sox to take the pennant next year. The empire will have good players next year but they just seem like they're not really playing like a unit lately. Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I'd like to see Teixera with the Red Sox as well. Before the Hot Stove season started, he claimed he wanted to make his decision before Christmas. We're waaaiting... The Yankees...Little Hank is reacting like Daddy. Throw money at the problem and hope it works. With Sabathia, they got into a bidding war against themselves. ;D Besides, Sabathia hasn't fared very well against the Red Sox, especially in the postseason. Isn't that who they're trying to beat?? Burnett will be the ghost of Pavano. They needed pitching, and on paper, they improved. I don't think the pitchers will be effective for the length they're signed though. But they also need to improve their defense and replace the offense they're losing from Giambi and Abreu. We're far from done, though. I can't wait for the season to start. Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 19, 2008 Super User Posted December 19, 2008 I don't buy it. I think there up to something. Me neither. Either Boras is bluffing and the sox called his bluff, or the sox are bluffing. Unless Teixera really wants to be a Nat. ;D Either way, the sox are wieners. Quote

Daniel A. Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 ...what are they going to do with Swisher? If they can't buy win a World Series now, they should withdraw from MLB and play in AA. Well, I guess the Sox can counter with Manny. ;D Theo, the momentum has shifted. Please respond swiftly. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 23, 2008 Super User Posted December 23, 2008 The New York Monkey Sacks now have the FOUR biggest contracts in baseball, the most over-paying sport in the world (A-Rod, Jeter, Sabathia, Teixeira). WE NEED A CAP!!!!!!!! Quote
