Super User Gone_Phishin Posted September 4, 2008 Super User Posted September 4, 2008 Hey You guys have a good team, the thin Mets are paper thin in the bull pen. We have Philly this weekend, at home. I hope it's not a replay of last year. I know fans stick by their team, but being a Met's fan since day one, tends to make you a realist, This ain't the 86 club. Even if Wagner comes back we are in trouble. The Brew Crew fell short by not going deep in the count, with all their good hitters I know it's hard. If you want to beat the Mets, you have to be patient and take some pitches, the idea is to get the Mets starters out before the 7th inning. The Phils are very adept at this. I just see this as possible for the Mets to take the East . but I do not see them beating the Cubbies. Lou Pinella learned how to use his pitching and how to expolit the other teams pitching weaknesses from BILLY MARTIN AND ART FOWLER, 2 of the best at that game.As much as i hate giving the Yankees credit for anything, those 2 wrote the book on the subject and Sparky Anderson took it up a notch You hit it right on the head: our sluggers (couch cough Prince) had no patience at the plate this series. Trailing late in game two, Braun walked on five pitches. So what does Prince do? Only hit the first pitch into a DP. Hopefully we'll get another chance come October, 'cause we really looked like crap this series. Quote

Super User Hookemdown. Posted September 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2008 Pedro was a GREAT pitcher once upon a time. I'd take him in his prime any day. BUT, I'm glad we got rid of him when we did. Quote
