Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 25, 2008 Super User Posted February 25, 2008 Looks like the bo sox signed the oft injured Bartolo Colon to a minor league deal today. Not a bad pick-up: no guaranteed salary; all incentive based; high ceiling. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3262747 Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 29, 2008 Super User Posted February 29, 2008 The Brian Roberts to the Cubs rumor is still going strong...looks like it actually might happen. It hasn't lost any steam over the last month. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/02/brian-roberts-3.html Quote

It hasn't lost any steam over the last month. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/02/brian-roberts-3.html I would think that DeRosa's illness might have something to do with it. Other than that, I just cannot see a reason for the Cubs to make the deal. I guess that's why I'm sitting here and Jim Hendry is the GM. Quote
Guest muddy Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 What do you guys think of Hendry, I cant get a handle on this guy. I think he would shine if the Cubbies would part with a few more dollars? Quote
Guest muddy Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Within 2 more seasons the RED SOX will start there next century long slide! ;D Quote

Guest muddy Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 If your vets are near retirement and a lot of option years are coming up the next 2 years, check your rosters, 2 more years and the Sox are in for some down time Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 1, 2008 Super User Posted March 1, 2008 You forget, about the prospects still to come up. Just look at what they have grown on the farm. 2 in their regular roation, Papelbon, Youk, Ellsbury, Pedroia, Not too mention Ortiz and Manny want to end their careers as Red Sox. Quote

If the $*&*(#)!@)@#&*#@(**$%(#*%#)$()#($)#&*@(#*@(# Marlins can buy two World Series titles, then I don't understand can't the Cubs buy one? Quote
bassmasta7 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 The Marlins did not buy two world series titles, they sold away at least two more world series titles. They unloaded all of their players after '97 and then within' two years all of the '03 leaders were gone. Consider a healthy lineup and rotation with their '03 team today. 1. Beckett 2. Penny 3. Burnett 4. Willis 5. Pavano That might be the best rotation in MLB today. They also had Derek Lee, Miguel Cabrera, Juan pierre, Luis Castillo, Mike Lowell, Ivan Rodriguez, Alex Gonzalez, and Juan Encarnacion. What the Marlins have done by winning 2 world series in 7 years is amazing since they did it with 2 completely different teams with almost all guys from their own farm system. If the owners would spend some money, the Marlins would still be winning world series. The Cubs need to stop trying to buy a world series and strengthen their farm system and try the marlins way of winning a world series. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted March 2, 2008 Super User Posted March 2, 2008 Oh BS, HS, and DS...the Marlins bought both of those d**n titles. Teams like Florida and Kansas City tick me off. Quote
