Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 Spring training is almost here. Pitchers and Catchers report in a little less than 4 days. I love football, basketball, and just about every other sport, but baseball will always be king. The Mets look strong and the BoSox may have another title shot this year. Cheers to a great upcoming season! Let the trash fly! Quote
Guest muddy Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Hey Hookem, great you started it this year! The Met's are gonna stink all the way to the series 8-) Nah Pitchers and catchers for some squads already reporting my favorite last 2 words of the Starspangeled Banner: PLAY BALL! Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 11, 2008 Super User Posted February 11, 2008 The AL looks pretty wide open minus the Bo Sox and Detroit. The NL is going to be a blast to watch. The Mets and D-backs are going to put up a lot of W's. The central should be a two team race. I'm most excited about the fact that there is actually a competitive team here in Milwaukee. I just hope they don't blow it down the stretch and give away the division to the cubs again. Anyone but the cubs. If Rickie Weeks and Bill Hall put up more #'s offensively, the new-look bullpen lives up to its potential, and they improve defensively, they have a legitimate shot at making a long run in the playoffs. Gosh, it feels soooo good to be able say thast again. We were in the cellar of MLB for freakin' decades. I'm not used to these rising ticket prices and having to secure tix long before a weekend series. ;D Quote
tkite16 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 go O's :-[ Think thats bad I gotta type go Royals Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 11, 2008 Super User Posted February 11, 2008 I've got 50 Trik Sticks that says the Mets won't win their division. Quote

Guest muddy Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 QUESTION TO THE MODS: CAN WE MAKE IT A STICKY LIKE THE LAST 2 YEARS? Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2008 ;D Little early ain't it? It's a little late if you ask me I really wish the Sox acquired Santana. I'm going to enjoy watching Ellsbury this year. I think he has some serious potential. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2008 Go Red Sox!!!! 8-) I like this youngster 8-) Go Sox! Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 11, 2008 Super User Posted February 11, 2008 As long as the Yankees didn't get Santana who cares. He wasn't worth a combination of Jacoby, Lester, or Bucholtz. I'm really looking forward to seeing Bucholtz and Lester in the rotation this year, the few times they pitched last year they were amazing Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2008 Hey Tin, is Buchholz the guy that pitched the no-no against the O's last year? Quote
llPa1nll Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Go Red Sox!!!! 8-) I like this youngster 8-) Go Sox! Sweet Caroline!!! Quote
llPa1nll Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Hey Tin, is Buchholz the guy that pitched the no-no against the O's last year? Yes, he did pitch the No-No... Quote
RiskKid. Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 OK....time for the Yankee fan to chime in. I think Cashman and Epstien were smart not giving up what was being asked for Santana. For some reason I believe the Mets were given a more reasonable deal (wonder if it's because they are an NL team :). It was a good deal for the Mets but I for one am glad the Yankees stayed put and are going to groom the young talent.....somehow I think you Bosox fans should feel the same way. I'm excited to see how things go with Girardi grooming the youngsters and mixing that with keeping the vets happy. Will be an interesting year for us Yankee fans. For those of us in the AL East.....we better get off our high horses of the past....the Tigers and Indians should be a really fun race to watch and can easily replace the Yanks and Red Sox as the teams to beat......only 162 games to go....we'll see!!!! Fish Man Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 For those of us in the AL East.....we better get off our high horses of the past as an O's fan i never was on a high horse lol :-[ ;D Quote

Super User senile1 Posted February 12, 2008 Super User Posted February 12, 2008 The Cardinals appear to be also-rans this year. They've lost third-baseman Scott Rolen, shortstop David Eckstein, and center fielder Dave Edmonds. Their starting pitching is in ruins. Carpenter isn't supposed to be back from Tommy John surgery until summer. Mulder, who wasn't much help anyway, isn't going to be back until May. I'm still hoping that Wainwright, who was a great, young reliever, will turn into a decent starting pitcher. As bad as it looks, I'm still excited about the season getting started . . . . once a Cardinal's fan, always a Cardinals fan. Quote
Masshole Mike Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 i'm glad the sox kept ellsbury and buccholz. ellsbury was integral to the bosox defense and is fast around the bases. i'm also anxious to see how buccholz will do now that schilling's out for what looks like most of the season. from what i've heard buccholz will most likely be the last pitcher in the starting rotation. i just hope he can hang with the big boys this year. aside from his no-no he didn't really do much last year, but he's got awesome potential. i won't even get into our bullpen; okajima, timlin, PAPELBON! look out AL east, if the sox play anything like last year they're gonna be a force to be reckoned with. i'm heading up to toronto for the april 4th red sox vs. blue jays game at the rogers centre. i bought my brother two tickets for christmas so i get to spend some time with him, take a mini vaca (literally the weekend after i get back from the g'ville trip) and watch the sox start the season off right... i CAN NOT WAIT! HERE WE GO RED SOX, HERE WE GO! Quote
