My wife sure isn't.  In the 15 years we've been together, I can count on one hand the number of 'good' gifts she has given me.

Over the last few years, on no less than five occasions she has given me something I already had.  Heck, last week she decided to get Guitar Hero III for me.  She buys it, comes home to wrap it, then sees the game sitting on my shelf.

I love her, but she can't buy gifts for crap.  It isn't just me.  I was going to let her take care of all of the gift buying this year, but when she starting coming in with junk for her parents, I had to step in.

Women.... :D

My wife and I decided to open a few gifts from each other yesterday. Pretty much because im 5 and i cant wait 3 frickin days. The catch was we got to pick witch one the other got to unwrap. So she opened hers first. It was the new New kids on the Block CD. Im sure you are as excited as she was. Im thinkin to myself, i got a quiet evening to myslef of watching Jeremy Starks smack talk KVD and maybe play a little WII before she would be done listening to it. So she hands me mine. I can already tell from the box its a board game.(I got pretty good at guessing what comes in certain boxes during my childhood.)SO as i rip the Charlie Brown christmas paper i can see the words "opoly". My heart sinks, as i already have seen for what the evening has in store for me. A 3 hour game that ends with me getting ticked and throwing little red hotels and calling her a cheat because i have already mortgaged everything except Baltic AVE.And when i say CHEAT, That the nicest thing she gets called during a Monopoly breakedown.

Ahhh....the Monopoly meltdown.  Been there, done that.   ;D

The wife is actually pretty good at gift selection.  I had a bunch of hard to find JDM cranks in my stocking last year.  It blew me away how she knew which ones to get.  No clue how she found them either because they are only available in Japan.

Probably the best way to determine whether you are a good gift giver is to ask yourself this question:  "When I purchase a gift for someone, do I buy what they like or do I buy what I like?"  If you are not sure what they like, a gift certificate or even cash is better than wasting your money on something that will likely be returned or collect dust in the garage.

jShe better be happy with what I got her...

She loves the Celtics and Bruins (played basketball), and has never been to the new Boston Garden for a game. So me being the awesome boyfriend I'am gets tickets for the Celtics/Nets, 9 row up from the middle of the floor, January 14. PERFECT...

Until my doctors appointment last week. Where it is either have another surgery January 14, or wait until February. So I sell the amazing Celts tickets (which I pretty much stole for $250), and pick up Bruins tickets. Got 6th row seats behind the penalty box for January 1st game against Sid the Kid and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Also got her some Venetian (spelling?) glass ring. She was a foreign exchange student part of last year and studied in Italy for a semester. Bought one there and it broke a couple weeks ago so grabbed her one of those too.

I think I am. I try to find gifts that fit the person's interests that he or she would not think to buy.

My wife is great at buying gifts for me. I try to leave a list of exactly what I want in the office at all times.  ;D

I suck at buying gifts. My wife does all the buying in the house and she does a good job at it too.
