I think you will find that store-bought egg-nog is just fine.

Bourbon gives the drink a deeper, nuttier flavor, than rum.

Start at 4 parts egg-nog/ 1 part whiskey, then adjust to taste.

I like this mix with a whiskey chaser. After one, I find it best

to forgo the bourbon egg-nog and just stick with the whiskey!

I'm with you Kent.  Before my liver turned to stone, my egg nog had always had a generous lacing of Black Jack.  Alas, I must now limit myself to regular egg nog or wine only. (Loud Sigh)

The last time ( 18 years ago) I drank Egg Nog with Dewar's in it I got

arrested for singing a rousing rendition of Bingle Jells with my best friend Joey in front of the Local  Precinct on Christmas Eve at 3am in the morning.
