BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 10, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 10, 2008 I'm pleased to announced I've made some major updates to the forums. These include several bug fixes, performance improvements, new features, and layout improvements. I'm confident you'll be delighted with the new features and functionalities. Some highlights of the improvements are: Top of Page Button Pie Charts for Polls Showcase Poll Multi-Attachments Avatar Uploader Expand/Collapse Advanced Extended Profiles Spell Checker Server loading and speed improvements Improved Topic Notifications Allow brackets in search / search routine speed improvements Improved "Send to a Friend" feature Revised and expanded Help Files Improved Login display at bottom of main page Ability to search by user name in PMs Birthday greeting for member on their birthday Direct link to new PMs Updated (Live) Preview Layout in Post and PM, added automatic resize live preview field Improved readibility of links below buttons in PMs Bug Fixes: ----------------------------------------- - E-mail notifications for posts and PMs not working correctly - PM Live Preview not working correctly - Date/Time Zone display different than settings - Improved security to prevent URL abuse of image tags - Improved security of E-mail by keeping addresses encoded - Improved readability of validation code and added field to view selected color - Corrected high page number layout problems in member list - E-mail addresses starting with letter "o" making a smiley - Special characters in passwords, email, and username - Special characters ( and ) in Displayed Name - HTML removed from signatures - Numerous issues with Personal Messages - Some members erroneously showing as Ex-Members - Letter D converted erroneously into smiley - Alert Moderator feature returned user to first page of topic instead of originalpost - Missing link for user name in User CP - URLs being ripped in posts - Words filtered out with Censor list were not filtered in RSS feed - Deleting PM from PM view caused error in PM Storage listing - PM storage page index did not display properly Plus numerous enhancements and small fixes. Of course, with any new update, there may be a thing or two I missed. If you see any weirdness, please first refresh your browser. This solves most issues. However, if a problem persists, please let me know. Also note the spellchecker uses an external database that I cannot control. It does not contain many common bass fishing terms such as spinnerbait, crankbait, and dropshot. This is not a bug. Please do not report dictionary "omissions", as I have no control over it. Thanks, and enjoy! If you are using IE6, you will see pale blue bars instead of green. This is due to a bug in IE6. It is not a problem with the forums. Please upgrade to IE7 now and the problem will disappear. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I for one am glad for the check spelling. Now I can get rid of my google toolbar! Quote
IDbasser Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Way to go Glenn!! I am happy to see the spell check. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 10, 2008 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 10, 2008 First minor glitch - it seems extra spaces and line returns in signatures have been converted to "&&&&" during the upgrade. I can't go back and fix that. You will need to go into your profile and remove them from your own signature. Thanks! Quote

senko_77 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Thanks Glenn! Just a quick question. On the list at the bottom of the page, I can no longer click on a user that is online. It basically doesn't provide a direct link to them. Is that a glitch on my computer, or is that the way it is now? Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Those are some sweet updates. Thanks I like the new, slightly different smileys too, especially this one Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 10, 2008 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 10, 2008 Thanks Glenn! Just a quick question. On the list at the bottom of the page, I can no longer click on a user that is online. It basically doesn't provide a direct link to them. Is that a glitch on my computer, or is that the way it is now? That means you're not logged in. Log in and you'll be able to click on them. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 10, 2008 Super User Posted December 10, 2008 Thanks Glenn! Just a quick question. On the list at the bottom of the page, I can no longer click on a user that is online. It basically doesn't provide a direct link to them. Jake. Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I downloaded IE7 and restarted but the "new" bars are still blue and the internet automatically refreshes every time I view a different page. Any ideas how to fix it? Quote
Super User Marty Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 The right side is still truncated with my monitor set at 1024x768 and I have to use the horizontal scroll bar. Is that the intention? I can see it all with the next setting but don't care for the smaller type. P.S. This just started a couple of weeks ago. Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 If you see any weirdness, please first refresh your browser. I did that. But Muddy's still here. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 love it! I'm using IE7 and my bars are blue also, but i don't really care, i think it looks kinda cool Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 Glenn, as usual, ya done good. The spell checker is a neat feature. I use Firefox which checks as you type. I hope yours does the same. There are some folks (Muddy) who could really take advantage of the new add-on. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 11, 2008 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 11, 2008 I downloaded IE7 and restarted but the "new" bars are still blue and the internet automatically refreshes every time I view a different page. Any ideas how to fix it? "new" icons have been fixed. Hit F5 if they're still blue. And I don't understand the second part of your question. But if I had the power to automatically refresh the internet, I'd be a rich man. ;D Quote

Is that the intention? I can see it all with the next setting but don't care for the smaller type. P.S. This just started a couple of weeks ago. Yes, it's by design. Current statistics show that only 20% of people browsing the web have a screen resolution of 1024x768 or smaller. The rest use larger screen resolutions. Quote
