Something bears real consideration.  Exactly where does one get fox urine and in such quantities that it can be used in a squirt gun?

When I was younger I had a friend whose dad used to hunt a lot. He asked me to smell what was in this bottle from his rec room. He just said it was some "scent". Turned out to be fox urine. All I can say is it is the most foul smelling stuff EVER.

any BPS, cabela's and most hunting stores.  It's used for a number of things...  from predator hunting to rodent repellent.

That's really lame. Around here you'd get shot at with a real gun for tresspassing. I think that's f'd up he gets in trouble.

is the assault charge stemming from spraying the kids with pee or from "struggling with one of the teens"?

I wonder if the kids had more fun before they got there or after they left.  Kudos to the gent with the fox scent!

You're right.  I'm in apartment management, and I'll let you in on an industry secret:  If you rent, and you have a possum/raccoon/rodent problem, chances are it's too expensive to fix.  So we send a maintenance man out there with a bottle of coyote urine and it will scare them away for a while.

Another trick for rodents in walls:  Take a turkey baster or cajun "flavor injector" and fill it up with cayenne pepper, make some small holes in your sheet rock, and shoot that between the walls.  It gets rid of most rodents, and has the added benefit of not making your house smell like coyote urine

Why was this guy charged? He was defending his property from trespassers.

I just have this vision of this guy, crouched down behind a bush,  wearing night-vision goggles, in camo, with a squirt gun filled with fox urine, jumping out yelling "BANZAI!!!!!" as 20 kids run in 32 different directions!

That's exactly how I spend my off weekends.

You must act in a reasonable and responsible manner when protecting property or persons.

You must use "reasonable" force.

Anything else is the basis for criminal charges that you will have to let a judge and jury deeming.

For example. You cannot set a trap to protect property.  You cannot shoot someone when they are trying to steal your car.

You must always act in a prudent manner even though the perks are breaking the law.

This is why we always carried a knief on us in Viet Nam. You never knew when you would have to put that knief in the hand of your adversary after an encounter.  ;)
