detroit1 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Sorry to hear that, Grimlin. Just about everyone in this state is nervous, as nobody knows if they will be working next year. I surely hope it is only temporary, but if not, i hope you can find something soon. Good luck... Quote

drmnbig Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I hate to see this happen to folks. I got laid off from a great job about 3 years ago and just about lost everything we had. I just stayed positive and made the most out of it. The master plan has already been laid out and this is just a test for you. Good luck and I wish you the best! Quote

Super User Muddy Posted December 10, 2008 Super User Posted December 10, 2008 I feel for you I have been there. Please Grimlin take at look at this quote, a dear friend in recovery gave this to me, during a time of great trial. I am not trying to minimize what you are feeling, but faith is the mortal enemy of fear: 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you You are in my prayers Quote

Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 A factory (Baldwin Custom - they build pianos) in my small town just laid off most of their workers yesterday. The entire plant will be shut down in a few weeks. Quote

Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 I feel for you. Just to let you know their are others out there ...... I graduated in May. Had a job lined up with my family business (ran by my grandparents) for about 5 years now. Plan was to graduate and then they would show me the ropes of their business and then they would basically semi-retire. I worked for them this summer and their business was REALLY REALLY down. I kind of saw the writing on the wall and luckily my grandparents were thinking the same thing and decided it was probably best if I found a different job for the time being. So that was September. I have been seeking full time employment since then, but have only worked 3 "contract" jobs. My last one ended last week so I am back on the hunt. It SUCKS!!!! I feel your pain. I guess I am lucky as in a don't have any financial obligations (family, house payment, rent, etc.) I really feel for those people. Good luck and hang in there. Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'm really sorry to hear that, grimlin. I hope you find something better in the very near future. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 11, 2008 Super User Posted December 11, 2008 Sorry to hear that. Maybe the new administration can get things on the right track soon. On the bright side, maybe we can do a little more icefishing. Check your PM's Falcon Quote
