Super User fishfordollars Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 I prefer our winters. very little, if any snow and it only stays cold a few days at a time. Our summers are killers. A lot of the radio stations have a thing about it being 80 by 8:00am. 95 by 2:00 and 100 by 3:00. Just come on down and try to enjoy one of our summers. Several years ago we had twenty something days in a row when the high temp was always over 108. That year I fished a tournament on Lake Texoma on Labor Day weekend and it hit 111+ three days in a row. It's so hot that you have no choice but to fish at night, or face heat stroke each day. It sucks. Our humidity usually matches our high temps. (95-100%) Quote

I recall a headline from the Times of London when I was a kid, "70 degrees again tomorrow - No relief in sight." Quote

Everyone at the station was miserable. The guy who interviewed me kept talking about getting back to North Carolina, and the guy who drove me to the airport just wanted to move to Seattle. No one wanted to be in that Texas heat. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 Or do as I do, and find a steelhead stream: Either this weekend or next I'm going to the Salmon River in NY to catch some steelhead. Lookin' forward to it 8-) By the way, thanks for the link to those light bulbs. That's much cheaper than actually buying these lamps from the SAD sites. I'm gonna give the bulbs a shot and see what happens. I was there this past Saturday. I went 0-0, LOL, and froze my butt off. Some of the guys in my party caught a few, though they all said it was a slow day. The reports from the few brave souls that went out Sunday were much better, many reporting 10+ hookups. Good luck, and I'll send you a PM with more info Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Yes, I have it. I have 300 watts of metal halide light over my reef tank. It helps... Quote
bassdocktor Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Yeah the winter can be no fun some times. I've also heard those lightbulbs can help. I knew someone that had depression and they were told to get one. But I guess if you are in school it helps alittle because that will occupy some time. Honestly I'm glad I found snowmobiling last year. Now it gives me something to look forward to in the winter. Atleast when the boat gets put away the sleds come out. Quote
