GitRDoneIke23 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Are you kidding me!!?? How can they rank OU over Texas???!! Remeber the 45-35!! I know OU played REALLY good ball the last few weeks of the season, and had a solid season, but SO DID TEXAS!! OU beat Texas Tech in their place. Texas beat OU in a NEUTRAL site! Tech beat UT in Lubbock. I'm not degrading what OU did, but they were in their own house, and Texas's ONLY loss of the season was by 6 points. TEXAS WAS 1 SECOND FROM A PERFECT SEASON! OU and Tech can't say that. I don't see how you can't saw Texas isn't deserving!! I think it's the BCS's fault as well as the B.S. Big 12 tie-breaking system. The SEC and ACC have it figured out. Check out their tie-breaking systems and tell me if that isn't the best way. Something ain't right when 2 teams (OU and Mizzou) are playing for the Big 12 championship game when TEXAS beat BOTH OF THEM!!! Again, not to take anything away from OU, but sorry guys, we beat ya!! So chalk up another team that got screwed by the BCS. There HAS to be a better way. 45-35!!! -Ike Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Wah.... I go to Penn State... how many times in history have we gotten screwed with undefeated seasons. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 Life's tough. If it wasn't you bitchin , it would be some one else. It's always going to be like this as long as the college presidents have their way. They are making too much money with the current system. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 :'( ........ Remember what OU did to TT, the team that beat Texas? Therefore if they were to play again, by theory, OU would beat Texas about 84-17. ;D Quote
atx_newbie Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 The transitive property doesn't work in sports. For instance, Oregon State beat USC. Penn State made Ore. State look like high schoolers. Iowa beat Penn. So Iowa would beat USC? Doubtful. The fact of the matter is that in college football, if you are going to lose, you should lose in September or early October. Texas lost more recently than OK, therefore they get snubbed. It happens to someone every year. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 If Missouri wins this Saturday, that will quiet the crowd! Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 :'( ........ Remember what OU did to TT, the team that beat Texas? Therefore if they were to play again, by theory, OU would beat Texas about 84-17. ;D As I remember..............Texas lost to TT by 1 second! In Lubbock!! Yes OU CREAMED them, but they were in Norman. Oh, and what was that score from the Red River Rivalry?? Oh, ya TEXAS won that game. 45-35 I may be crazy but to me it just doesn't make sense that OU get's to play, when Txas has already beaten them. Wah.... I go to Penn State... how many times in history have we gotten screwed with undefeated seasons. No kidding!! I can't stand Penn ST. but the BCS needs to go!! Far too many deserving teams have been screwed! -Ike Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 If Missouri wins this Saturday, that will quiet the crowd! GO MIZZOU I'd like to see OU get CREAMED by the Tigers. It's a long shot, but stranger things have happend! I'm pulling for Florida all the way. But I wouldn't mind seeing Bamma take it. I'm a BIG SEC fan!! But right now the Big 12 has the best confrence in football -Ike Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 1, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 1, 2008 The ranking system means absolutely nothing. It's extremely biased and unfair, and so unscientific that it has no merit whatsoever. Instead, it's all about greed. It's a joke! Quote
Speed Worm Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Oklahoma is the better team. Congrats to them! Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 Oklahoma is the better team. Congrats to them! Which is why Texas beat them 45-35. Wow!! That makes a TON of sense. -Ike Quote

Hookem Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Wah.... I go to Penn State... how many times in history have we gotten screwed with undefeated seasons. 1969-1970 season and Nixon comes to mind. Quote
preach4bass Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Hey Ike, What was the score of that game again? ;D Look, as college football fans we know that this is a possibility probability before the season ever starts. If it's going to get you all bent out of shape, just stick to the NFL. As far as the 1 second goes, so what? Football is not a race. You can lose by 1 point, but not 1 second. Bad argument. Oh, and one more thing: What was the score of that game again? ;D Go Pirates!!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 T-boy gonna cure Dat Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 45-35 yes, I remember. What about 33-39? You can't act like that didn't happen, just like OU can't forget about the Texas game. Who is the better team right now? How has the best shot at beating Florida (or Bama)? That would be OU. Catt, Florida is liable to put a smack down on whoever they play. Quote
fathom Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 you may be right about that, catt. that boy just don't drink the same kinda water the rest of us mortals do. Quote
Jake. Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I'm gonna have to agree with Ike on this one (and I'm a Duke fan so I'm not biased ;D ). Texas beat OU, that's all there is to it. It doesn't matter how bad OU beat Tech. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 T-boy gonna cure Dat me and my roommates call him "Football Jesus" Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 T-boy gonna cure Dat me and my roommates call him "Football Jesus" ;D We call him Tim Tebow of Nazareth. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 The polls make up a part of the BCS rankings and there is a lot of bias in the people ranking various teams against some schools. I agree that Texas deserves the Big 12 championship seating more than OU. It is a shame that the pollsters knew this prior to their voting OU above Texas, knowing that they were delibertly cheating Texas out of the championship game. Seems there may be some hanky-panky going on against Mack Brown or the University of Texas. I am sure the outcry over an OU-Missouri game will be heard loud and clear at the Big 12 headquarters. Then again, maybe the Big 12 headquarters people do not like Mack Brown or the University of Texas. Did Bebo ever dump on the lawn of the Big 12 headquarters???? If not, it is time to take him there for a visit. Do I smell a conspiracy???? Quote

They're ranked 7th or whatever. It's about Texas and OU. It was a toss up between them, and Texas CLEARLY proved they were the better team. I don't see how ypu can get any clearer than beating the other team. By 10 points no less. Bottom line, Texas should be playing Mizzou. I do have to agree about Florida! Tim Tebow is insane!! :o Gators all the way!!!!! -Ike Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 When you say ... "This is not about Tech. They are ranked 7th" What you are doing there is eliminating Tech via the polls. But then when the same polls eliminate UT ... you say the polls shouldn't mean squat. Hmmmmmmm. I don't know the answer to the problem. All I know is the one in place sucks. I think a flip of the coin would have been more fair to decided the Big 12 south representative ... and that is between all 3 teams. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 I aint gonna say what LSU fan calls T-Boy cause this is a family site Actually the computers ranking are as follows #1 Oklahoma #2 Texas #3 Florida #4 Alabama #5 USC The human polls could not must enough votes even though they thought Texas should play in the Big12 Championship. http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 Sadly, we're going to have to deal with this type of thing until someone comes up with a plan for a playoff system that pays more money than the BCS. My take on the Big 12 situation? Ugly. Very ugly. Quote
