Super User 5bass Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 Looks like Texas got the short end of the deal. Yep. I guess the brainiacs think OU will give Florida a better game in the National Championship. Quote
Super User Marty Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 Looks like Texas got the short end of the deal. No argument there. Somebody always gets left out unless there are exactly two major unbeatens. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 I honestly don't care anymore because I think Alabama/Florida (whoever wins the SEC championship) vs. Oklahoma and Texas vs. Florida/Alabama (loser of SEC championship) would be great games to watch no matter which combination it is. Of course I say that strictly as a viewer with no interest in who wins. It seems that USC will be playing PSU, but where does that leave Utah? Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 Loser of the SEC Championship game goes to the Sugar Bowl if the SEC Championship game winner goes to the BCS game. Sugar Bowl has a record of inviting the "strange" teams, like when LSU defeated Wyoming and last year with Hawaii and Georgia. I would not be surprised to see Utah, Cinncy or Bosie State play in the Sugar Bowl this year. Time will tell. Stay tuned. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 I love the BCS ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 I love the BCS ;D As you and all OU fans should. I bet the BCS crew won't be getting any Christmas cards from Mack Brown this year. Quote
Crabcakes Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 It seems that USC will be playing PSU, but where does that leave Utah? On the outside looking in. I dunno if I'm right but: Isn't Utah guaranteed a BCS bid as the highest ranked Non BCS conference champion ranked in the top 12 of the BCS? (Say that 5 times fast) And for that same reason Boise State is on the outside looking in, because only the highest ranked non BCS team is guaranteed a bid. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 You are correct. I was talking about Utah being undefeated and not getting a shot at the NC. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 1, 2008 Super User Posted December 1, 2008 It's all semantics cause Gators win it all Quote
SDoolittle Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I love the BCS ;D I love that the rest of the country hates us Sooner fans! Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 If the Big XII had SEC tie breakers, then Texas would be playing the conference championship. Sec takes lowest ranked team out and then goes head to head for three way ties. So by SEC tie breakers, Tech would be out, and Texas wins on head to head. But, OU got the vote, so against MIzzou, I gotta pull for the Tigers. Don't forget that OU laid a goose egg a few year back against KSU in the Big XII title game. So its not over for the horns. If OU does win, I just hope they don't choke again. 1-4 in last BCS bowls does not reflect well upon the Big XII. Go Big XII and Hookem Horns. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 Mizzou is still a dangerous team. With all of the hype in the South, people forget about them. Texas should be in the Title game if OU falls to Mizzou. I don't see the voters letting Utah in, and Texas has a large lead over USC currently. If OU loses, I'm personally pulling for Ball State. ;D Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 I think there is a very good possibility that Mizzou will get absolutely annihilated. They did not look good in their loss to Kansas last week. Quote
SDoolittle Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 You know what I find really funny? Even if the SEC tiebreaker was in place and Texas was heading to the Big XII Championship game, Oklahoma is still #2 in the BCS and would play for the National Championship without the hassle of playing Mizzou this weekend!
