Super User Sam Posted November 27, 2008 Super User Posted November 27, 2008 On Wednesday night I listened to a Chicago newspaper sports reporter on satellite radio who covers Notre Dame football and he said Charlie Weiss may be on the way out due to the Syracuse calamity. He added that if Notre Dame does pretty good against USC, that is keeping the score close or winning the game, then Weiss may be retained. Seems good Ole Charlie has been nasty to some people on campus and the reporters covering Notre Dame football and he has harmed his "fat, funny and competent" profile. He also added that he believes the Notre Dame people are going behind Charlie's back to raise the contract buy-out money. Should be interesting to see if Notre Dame retains Charlie or gives him the boot. Can anyone up in Notre Dame land add to this thread on what they are reading and hearing? Phat Phil Phulmer to Notre Dame or Auburn as one of Tubby's coordinators? What do you all think? Stay tuned. This should be interesting. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 27, 2008 Super User Posted November 27, 2008 Weiss has not lived up to all the hype that surrounded him when he first went to ND, that's for sure. The way everybody was talking, you could've just handed them the National Championship trophy. On the homefront, I'm worried about Bud Foster leaving Virginia Tech for Clemson. If Foster walks he'll be carrying 4 or 5 wins a year with him. It WON'T be pretty. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 27, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 27, 2008 Foster walking to Clepson is just like Pelini going over to Nebraska. LSU's defense sucks without Pelini. I could complete a pass against the Tiger backfield. Hope Foster stays but he would be an execellent selection for any school, especially Clepson that needs some help but of course, we are talking about Clepson and even with Foster they will continue to be bad. Super User burleytog Posted November 28, 2008 Super User Posted November 28, 2008 Fattie sealed his fate with a loss to a pathetic Syracuse team. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 28, 2008 Super User Posted November 28, 2008 He's definately not the answer for God's team. Looks to me like he can't recruit. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 28, 2008 Super User Posted November 28, 2008 A buy out of his contract would cost them 20 million in doing so. Notre Dame is premier job and the price tag it will cost them to get another big time program coach will cost them again. His best year was with Ty's recruited players by the way. Which was the first year in South Bend. Quote
Troutfisher Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 It's about time! This joker ruined a powerhouse football team and turned them into the laughing stock of college football, especially with the loss to the 'cuse. Quote
Troutfisher Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 That's Bill Stewart. 8-) I don't think they were "ruined" before Weiss got there, they were still able to qualify for several big name bowls and play some quality football. Now, they're losing to teams they never should have even had to think about. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 29, 2008 Super User Posted November 29, 2008 1st offering goes to the general church fund 2nd offering goes to the support of overseas missionaries. 3rd offering goes to the buyout of Weiss's contract. Quote

Thats per year, and his contract guaranteed him his money, and how long was that contract extension for? 2015. times 4.5 mil per year? Its not like they don't have the money to buy him out, but in todays economy, thats alot of money even for Nortre Dame. Charlie won't leave ND will less than 15 mil. Quote

That's what the artical stated , the final cost of the buyout would be around 4.5million , not 4.5 million per year. http://msn.foxsports.com/rumors/college#1 Quote
