Super User burleytog Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Came out of the woods long enough to get warm and dry... Got the little one Sat. AM, 250 yards. Took the big one this evening in a pouring rain. Five days left in the season, I got plenty of tags. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks for checking in Burleyman. Good shootin' too Quote

Troutfisher Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I see "wood cow" steaks in your future Agreed! I'd love to see some of that deer jerky when it's ready. We're hoping to get some in the freezer also. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 I got my antlers this year. Should be 8-point but each lost one-point due to fights. Did I shoot the buck? Nope. I let a guy hunt behind my house and he gave me the antlers. I had some beautiful 8-point antlers about 10-years ago but they got lost when my son and his room mates burned down their house at Campbell University. Believe me, he isn't getting this set. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Did you actually get out of the blazer to kill it or is the blazer how you killed it Quote
TheBeast Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Sam I got 2 sets of 8's from our place in KY a couple weeks ago. As far as Burley goes, I guaranteed a kill for him yesterday evenin, I went with him and we stayed local so that meant he was gonna outdo me. Now we need to take a hunting trip somewhere so I can get me a nice big one while he sets and plays with his scope. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Did you actually get out of the blazer to kill it or is the blazer how you killed it hey, the best deer blind i ever used was an old ford truck that had been drug to the back part of a field. every year id oil up the doors real good. shot 2 deer out of it. Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 29, 2008 Super User Posted November 29, 2008 Mr. Nugent, those deer are the size of small children. I know you hate women with a passion, but you could shoot a few bucks every now and then... Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 29, 2008 Super User Posted November 29, 2008 How come you don't use the meat on the front for ground? Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted November 29, 2008 Super User Posted November 29, 2008 BurleySue been at it again I see. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted November 29, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 29, 2008 How come you don't use the meat on the front for ground? With the exception of one, all had been shot through the shoulder. Unless it's a big deer, I don't bother skinning past the backstraps. Not enough meat there to make it worth my while. Quote

emti56 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 man i hate to see such a waste here in MA i only get two tags and with are population you may not get to feel them. glad to see you have big heards but believe that kind of display of waste is something the anti hunters feed of and for good reason. maybe you have a food pantry or a freind that would but it to use. I see alot of roast and stew laying there. Quote

I see alot of roast and stew laying there. From your post I'm guessing that you're too young to hunt, and therefore, have never killed, let alone cleaned a deer. Most people who kill, clean, and eat a lot of deer only take the hams and backstraps. I've cleaned 9 so far this year, and haven't touched a shoulder. I can get enough meat out of the hams and backstraps to stock our freezer for the year. I'm sure Burley is in the same boat. By the way, the anti-hunters don't "feed" off of us wasted deer meat. They don't feed off of deer meat at all! ;D Quote
emti56 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 not tr;ing to but anyone down just stating that it is a lot of waste if you drag it out why not but it to use and yes i am an avid achery hunter here in MA were chances are not as great so to see the meat being throwing away sucks but to each their own. Although i will admit i gut my own deer i have only prosessed a few and choose to pay to have it done by a pro not a big cost when your only talking two deer a year. sorry if i offend anyone as the as the animal is use in some manner other then just a mount i am cool. Just maybe take what you need and pass on the rest And why kill Nine when 4 or 5 fully used would fill the same space?? Quote
