Infidel. Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 My wife is graduating from Air Force basic training on the 5th so I will be flying out to spend the weekend with her. Other than the riverwalk, is there anything you guys/gals suggest to do out there. Any good restraunts? Any input is appreciated. Thanks! Quote
atx_newbie Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 There is a really cool restaraunt there, it's at the top of a relatively tall tower, and the building spins around slowly so that by the time you have finished your meal, you have seen the entire city. I can't remember the name, but it should be easy enough to find. The Riverwalk is really nice, and maybe you could get tickets to a Spurs game. I'm not much of a basketball fan, but even to me the Spurs are a fun team to watch. Other than that, you could always just drive to Austin for 6th Street... Quote
brgbassmaster Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 When i graduated basic training there we went to the Alamo, and some cool mexican restraunts. And the mall there. But theres not enough time after you graduate to fully check everything out. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 26, 2008 Super User Posted November 26, 2008 Go on a mission to find Pee-Wee's bike in the basement of the Alamo. Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 26, 2008 Super User Posted November 26, 2008 Well, what to do in San Antonio ? let the BaitMonkey loose when you go to BPS Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 26, 2008 Super User Posted November 26, 2008 Eat tacos. Walk by the USAA building. Take a ride on the canal. Walk along the canal and see the shops. Remember the Alamo! Then hit the hotel room for some congratulatory moves on each other. Eat tacos. Walk by the USAA building. Take a ride on the canal. Walk along the canal and see the shops. Remember the Alamo! Go back to the hotel room for more congratulatory moves. Eat tacos. Walk by the USAA building. Take a ride on the canal. Walk along the canal and see the shops. Remember the Alamo! Try to walk to get to on the flight back home. Congrats to your wife. Very proud of her accomplishment. She is in a class by herself. A very high and limited class of men and women who are in the armed services. She is a special person. Join USAA, NOW! I am waiting for my dividend check in December and my 40th membership year extra dividend check in February. Actually, the Bait Monkey is with me waiting for the checks. Join USAA as soon as your wife qualifies. Have a great Thanksgiving. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 USAA is an awesome bank to be with i have to agree. Quote
Infidel. Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 Thanks for the tips guys. Sam, thanks for your kind words. She is one hell of a girl. Spoke with her on Sunday and she qualified Epert Marksmen on the M-16. She had never fired a weapon before entering. I'll look into the USAA asap. Raul, I'd love to go to BPS but we have one 5 miles from the house here in California. But I am sure the one out there is much better. Here is a pic of the last fish she caught before she left. (Didn't weigh it but for reference, that is a 6" triple-trout in it's mouth) Quote

Super User Dan: Posted November 27, 2008 Super User Posted November 27, 2008 Walk by the USAA building. That's funny, I only got that joke because I know the address from sending in deposits. McDermott Freeway, right? Haha Quote

Dude, you don 't get it, you can have one 5 mi from home, but it 's not the BPS in San Antonio, later in life when you become an old fart like me you can proudly say you have made the pilgrimage to this, that, that one and the other Meccas where the BaitMonkey is worshiped. I 've been to: BPS Houston BPS San Antonio BPS Dallas/Ft Worth BPS Sin City ( Vegas ) BPS St Louis And the holiest of holiest ---> BPS Springfield ! Of course I do need to visit some others before my time on earth has expired but so far those are the ones I 've been to. Quote
