ArcticCat500 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 My wife and I have searched the states animal shelters for several months looking for a new member for our home, and a playmate for our daughter. We happen to drop in on one last weekend and found this little guy. A 10 month old Black Lab male whom had only been in the shelter for a few days, we took him outside for a little walk and playtime and imeditily knew he was ours. He's a little thick at times and in need of some basic manners and training but a wonderful dog all the same. He already has so many mannerisms of our late chocolate lab Dakota and seems to be on the right path. Meet Gunhter. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 24, 2008 Super User Posted November 24, 2008 Nice looking little guy. I've foung that Lab pups can be a little "energetic" for the first year or two, but after they settle down, you can't find a better breed. Have fun. Falcon Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 24, 2008 Super User Posted November 24, 2008 Nice... We have had 3 labs, all three never calmed down. Tried it all. Our current Chocolate is 13 and is still just as hyper and active as he was when he was a year old. Couldn't ask for a better dog though. Quote
IDbasser Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Nice looking pup. Mt black lab died in January, what an awesome dog she was. Have fun with the new addition. Quote
aceman387 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 nice lookin dog he looks like a smart pup already. Quote
DADto4 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Nice addition I also am fond of labs .....great dogs and even better with kids Quote
atx_newbie Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Great pup. Thank you for adopting through a shelter. I got my dog from a local shelter, and could not be happier with him. So many people overlook shelter dogs, prefering instead to pay $500 or more from a breeder while countless numbers of shelter dogs live their days penned up, underfed, and eventually killed Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 thnx for the kind words from all n I assure you this little guy is happier then ever....we dont hav a ton o land but 5 acres is plenty for him to let loose...he's still a lil on the dum dum side but thats part of being a lab puppy....n its fun to watch him. My daughter loves him. Quote
slomoe Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 here's my parents new lab pup. You could say hes a dum dum too ;D Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 26, 2008 Super User Posted November 26, 2008 THAT is a beautiful dog. What a face. You all did good and thanks for saving Gunhtr's life. Happy Thanksgiving. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted November 26, 2008 Super User Posted November 26, 2008 Great little pup there. My brother just had to put his down acouple of days ago at 15yrs old. Bell was the tops. I swear of man's best friends, labs are the most human. Give him a ton of love and you'll get it back twofold. Good luck! Quote
