Super User Tin Posted November 7, 2008 Super User Posted November 7, 2008 Hope your wrong Frogtog. But I can see $4 again. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 7, 2008 Super User Posted November 7, 2008 FrogTog, you forget we have a new President. Obama is such a smooth talker that he will have the OPEC countries begging to GIVE us their oil within six months. The price of gasoline will fall back to a reasonable 28 to 30 cents a gallon. I'm absolutely sure of my prediction ... Er, the Matron just reminded me that I forgot to take my medication. I'll get back to you. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 7, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 7, 2008 Troutfisher, Your state may have higher taxes then TN. I know here in MO I can drive across the river to IL and pay about 20-30 cents more. Its all tax in that 5 miles. Yeah...it's crazy! I think West Virginia has one of the highest gas taxes in the country - it's like 40 cents or something. California has the highest tax at 67 cents. West Virginia is at 41 cents. My state is the 6th highest at 56 cents. Alaska has the lowest - 18 cents. The average is 48 cents. Source: http://www.api.org/statistics/fueltaxes/upload/2008_159_GAS_MAP_OCT2008.pdf Quote

WOW! I doubt anyone can beat that story. The posted prices around here, without discount cards, is generally $1.99. Oil is currently trading at $60.10 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
Fisher of Men Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Well, it finally broke below $2 at $1.99 at Murphy and others as well. The TV news reports $1.83 at Burleson (south of DFW). I hope it keeps going. Quote
electrikal Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Prices are at $2.13 per here but I when I drive 40 miles either direction it drops by .20. :-? Guess its a local issue but fillup before coming to NW Alabama. I love the fact it's coming down but I'm afraid that we are being pacified for now. The push to develop alternatives is losing momentum. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 $1.96 without my Kroger employee discount. $1.76 with my discount. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 11, 2008 Super User Posted November 11, 2008 $1.739 in Tulsa today. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 11, 2008 Super User Posted November 11, 2008 1.82 here in Houston this morning. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 11, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 11, 2008 In addition to Long Mike's post, the morning news also commented on Tulsa having the cheapest gas in the country. We seem to be stuck at $1.94 - $1.98, but we have a discount program at a local grocery store (Schnucks) with up to 85 cents off. Sweet! 8-) Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 12, 2008 Super User Posted November 12, 2008 Kent, you've mentioned Schnucks before. At 85 cents off that truly is the cheapest gas in the country. Who the hell is Schnucks? Are they a chain and/or are they using the gas price as a loss leader? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 12, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 12, 2008 ;D ;D ;D ;D $57.20 ;D ;D ;D ;D Local retail droped a dime overnight! $1.79 anywhere, cheaper at a few stations! p.s. Long Mike: Schnucks is a regional chain headquartered in St. Louis. The discount applies to grocery purchases over $25 and accumulates. 8-) Quote
