basser89 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Paid $3.29 last evening. I'm getting closer to a full tank (starting at 1/8th of a tank on a 17 gallon tank) for $40! Give me $.20 more cents off and I might be able to do it! ;D Quote
Super User flechero Posted October 8, 2008 Super User Posted October 8, 2008 down another $0.20 overnight to $3.01.... that's almost a $0.60/gallon drop in about 4 days around here. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 YES 3.33 a gallon i filled up my truck just for the heck of it. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 8, 2008 Super User Posted October 8, 2008 Sad when we think gass under 3.00 a gallon is cheap though. We are being programed. This is exactly the point everyone is missing. WOO HOOO! Gas is $3 a gallon....BIG DEAL. We're still being gouged. Badly. Does anyone know what the barrel prices were before this whole mess got started? I remember pump prices being around $1.59 or so one week, then less than two weeks later pump gas was over $3. It jumped so fast that none of the gas retailers in town had any 3's to put up on their signs. Pathetic. Quote
mase088 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 My sophomore year in high school we had 2 days of school canceled because gas prices jumped up to about $3 and the school system considered it a crisis. Now I would skip school just to go fill up for $3. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 well i see it as way cheaper than it has been so im happy, sure its not CHEAP by any means but alot cheaper than the 4.19 i was paying this summer. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 9, 2008 Super User Posted October 9, 2008 Down to $2.93 in Tulsa this afternoon. Quote

Daniel My Brother Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I'm probably over-simplifying this, but here's a quick frame of reference: Back when oil prices first hit the $86 mark, the average price of gas was $2.76 a gallon. :-/ Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 9, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 9, 2008 We will be there shortly and perhaps sharply lower! Quote

Now I would skip school just to go fill up for $3. Youth. Try .59 a gallon when I first got my license. . . and that was only about 22 years ago. I'm sure some of these old timers can remember .30-.40 a gallon when they started to drive. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted October 9, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 9, 2008 Hmm... There use to be "gas wars" with price competition inside the .9 cent tag! The lowest price I ever remember paying was 14.5 cents, but the "going price" at the time was 16.9 cents! 8-) Quote

You know how we had it so bad back then, to school in the snow, uphill both ways, etc. The cost of living and salaries were ALOT lower then as well. Well, it WASN'T so bad back then. . . I'd go back in a heartbeat. Things were so much simpler then. Quote
George Welcome Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 1959 - 19.9 per gallon - for about 3 days .081 to .099 depending on station: this was the approximate federal tax amount per gallon. Many came with trucks loaded down with 55-gallon drums to fill. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Cheapest I've ever seen was .97 cents. That was approx 10 yrs ago. Quote
