Tokyo Tony Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Robin Williams is great. One that sticks out in my mind is Alex Reymundo. I've only seen one of his routines, but it was absolutely hilarious. I didn't want to post links to youtube because there's some pretty dirty language, but look him up if you have a minute. Quote
deadeye32. Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Rodney Carrington is pretty funny to me Quote

Pigsticker Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Dane Cook? Seriously? :-? You shouldn't be talking you said Robin Williams, his bits are very similar to vintage Howie Mandel :-/ What is more surprising than the Dane Cook responses to me is the Jeff Dunham ones You guys really think he's good? He would be on my list of worst comedians For me in no order it's Bill Hicks, Sam Kinison, Lenny Bruce. Oh and I like Sam Kinison's nemesis Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 19, 2008 Super User Posted November 19, 2008 Jeff Dunham won last years comedy central contest for best standup, his shows sell out. Quote
Pigsticker Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Jeff Dunham won last years comedy central contest for best standup, his shows sell out. Yeah and he is shtick-ier than Woody Allen in Chinatown. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted November 19, 2008 Super User Posted November 19, 2008 Pigsticker stated: You shouldn't be talking you said Robin Williams, his bits are very similar to vintage Howie Mandel Robin Williams started well before Howie Mandel so it would seem that Mandel would be copying Williams if anyone was plagiarizing. I watched both of these guys in their heyday and Robin Williams was one of the best. Howie was an also-ran. I don't see the comparison though Robin isn't as funny now as he was then. It was all fresh then. Anyway, everyone has an opinion, including me. Jonathan Winters Robin Williams Dave Chapelle Red Skelton Wanda Sykes I have seen some smaller-time comedians who would rival any of the best though I can't remember their names. Sometimes it's about being in the right place at the right time. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted November 19, 2008 Super User Posted November 19, 2008 Maybe not "comedians" , But the Three Stooges still tear me up even after seeing all of them 150 times. Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk !! That would be a good thread..."whats your favorite Stooges episode" Quote

If I am correct they even call parts of thier style RIFFS, if you ever saw Richard Pryor, you could see the part of Red Foxx that was in him,There is nothing wrong with adding new ideas onto older style. It is almost a natural progression of things. Quote
Pigsticker Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Wasn't saying that Williams copied his act, I was just comparing him to an 80s comedian that has is similar. Also it is customary to copy a good act so do not know why you took it that way Also think about Dunham's jokes, all just stereotypes. If I wanted to see stereotype comedy, I would see the guy who basically invented it. Andrew Clay Quote
