After reading a glowing review on tackletour and watching the video on the Black Dog bait company web site, I decided to pick up a few lunker punkers. Has anyone had any experience with either the lunker punker or lunker punker jr? When do you fish them, what have you caught, and would you buy them again?

Thanks!

Yeap. I have 4 lunker punkers. 3 Jr. Lunkers and 1 full size lunker.  You can get slightly blemished puinkers right now for 40% off at BlackDogs website. I picked up a few and the blemishes are hardly noticable. Nothing you wouldnt have a time or two after using these giants.

The action on these lures are really nice and create a huge wake. But be prepared to have a rod that can handle them. They say the Jr is 6" long, but it is more like 7". The 9" lunker is HUGE. It drawfs any lure I have ever used (although I am new to swimbaits) I typically use the 6" punker. You will need a dedicated swimbait rod to handle these monsters. The 6" weighs ~3oz and the 9"~4oz. My rod is weighted upto 6oz and handles the Lunker well.

I will be trying out the Black Dog Shellcracker this weekend. I have offically bought into the swimbait craze. I have been buying a couple swimbaits every week and my wallet is starting to feel it.  And I thought Lucky Crafts were expensive! :)

I was given a Lunker Punker in the large size in what looks like a trout color. I don't plan to ever fish with it. In the big fish lakes that I fish, it would just be an anchor or brush hook.
