srv1990 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Some of you may have already seen this, but if not it's worth checking out... and it's more than just a guitar lesson: Heck, even if you have seen it, it's worth another look. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 22, 2008 Super User Posted November 22, 2008 He mentions Lightnin' Hopkins when he talks about "Rude Mood." Lightnin' Hopkins is one of the giants in Texas blues (the most influential to SRV were Texas blues artists) and if you haven't listened to him, you NEED to. Quote
Olebiker Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I wish more musicians would sit down in front of a camera and talk about their music that way. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted November 22, 2008 Super User Posted November 22, 2008 Hey Olebike, go to some blues shows, they do all the time. I saw BBKING last year at the Bethlehem PA Music Festival, it was a covered stage, but the there was a misty rain, and the microphones arced to a trumpet. He moved the band off the stage and he went way back onto the drum stand. They removed the drum kit, and there sat BB and his beloved Lucille. He said" I picked cotton in the rain, so I guess I can play in the rain! For those of you who want to listen in the rain, welcome!" Then he proceded to go through his song book, and tell the stories behind some of his greatest works. I was not the only one who sat in tears listening to that story. Blues players like BB,Muddy,Albert Collins and it goes on and on have these moments with thei fans, it is truely ovewhelming when you are there to here it in person. 8-) Quote
