Brock Lesnar has his big fight tonigt against Randy Coture. I cant order it but itd be great if someone can post results! I got a feeling lesnar ends it in the first!

Lesner doesn't have a chance against Randy Couture.  Couture will submit Lesner in the first round.

This is a very interesting matchup that is loaded with the "if" factor.

If Lesnar has learned and can pull off a clean submission, Randy could be in trouble. I dont see Lesnar having a problem taking Randy down, the big question is whether or not he can do something with him once he gets him down. Brock is clearly better, faster and stronger on the ground but the refs wont let him just lay on Randy without steadily advancing his position. If he cant advance, the ref will stand them back up and that will benefit Randy.

If Randy can survive the initial barrage and get settled into his game, clinch with Lesnar and get his dirty boxing going, Lesnar might not last too long.

Whoever wins will most likely get the Noguera/Mir winner next.

Like FBL said, "if" will be the key factor.

If Lesnar can use his quickness and strength to his advantage, fight will end in the first two rounds.

If it goes 3+, I gotta give the edge to Couture.  He has too much experience in big fights.  Lesnar is a freaking beast and amazing athlete, but being that big I cant see him having the cardio to go 5 hard rounds with Randy.  He better fill that gas tank  LOL

This fight is gonna be awesome!!!

Hope that doesnt jinx it  LOL

I just hope its a good fight.    I'd don't want either to go down to quick if you know what I mean.

The way Randy prepares mentally and with the studying of film and analysis, he steps into the cage with a big advantage. If his opponent has a weakness, Randy knows about it long before the fight starts and builds his game plan around that weakness. He might be old but I'm not sure I'd throw down money against him. Ever.

I don't know how many of you saw the Lesnar/Mir fight but Lesnar came out and pretty much mauled Mir for the first minute or so, punched him, took him down, kept him down, beat on him a little bit, life was good for Lesnar.....then he made a mistake. He left his ankle out and Mir being the savvy jiu-jistu black belt that he is, grabbed it, pulled a submission and tapped out Lesnar all in a span of about 5 seconds.

So if Lesnar makes a mistake this time, Randy will make the most of it just like Mir did.

I hate PPV fights that don't last.

One thing for sure.     This new style of cage fighting has made boxing take a back seat.    I loved boxing in the hayday, but compared to the ocatgon, boxing has taken a back seat.

Huh... Everyone really thinks that Couture is going to beat lesnar?

I think you give couture too much credit. Although you cannot ever bet against Randy. I still believe Lesnar is going to win.

Let's look at some factors going into this fight:

Lesnar will be about 45lbs heavier so don't expect Randy to out wrestle him. Randy has faced bigger guys, but has always been stronger than them. (eg. tim sylvia, gonzaga) Brock is a different story.

Lesnar is fast! and I mean FAST! he will give Randy again a tough time standing up.

Submitting Lesnar? HOW? Take his back? Arm Bar? Maybe another leg lock? NO WAY!!! Lesnar is supposely border line purple belt BJJ from what his camp has told UFC. He won't make the same mistake and will have better knowledge this time around. Don't expect Lesnar to try to submit Randy, but to instead be happy with the groud N pound like Tito style. If he takes randy down and will most likely win most of the rounds for unamious decision.

Cardio wise, Brock has amazing cardio, but that isn't the point. Randy will be the one working really hard in this matchup.

I want Randy to win because he is one of my fav. fighters, but I have a hard time picturing it. Hopefully randy can knock the big man off and do something to end it early since brocks chin hasn't been tested yet. That way I can see my dream fight.

FEDOR VS. RANDY - AFFLICTION 3 or 4!!!

Like I said, Lesnar is the better athlete, no doubt. That helps but this is cage fighting, not the Olympics. Randy has been in the fight game a WHOLE LOT longer than Lesnar and the vast experience that Couture possesses in the cage is something Lesnar lacks. Will Lesnar's raw athletic ability be enough to overcome Randy's experience? Who knows?

I fully expect Lesnar to be able to shoot on Randy and take him down. The problem will arise if he can't steadily advance his position on the ground (due to lack of experience). At that point, the ref will stand them back up, right into Randy's world.

All that said, it could go either way. I wouldn't bet this one with your money.  ;)

And like Matt said, I just want an exciting fight. I really dont care who wins.

Well if Lesnar was gonna win it, that way didn't really surprise me.  At distance Randy was never that good of a striker. It was kind of assumed Lesnar had bad striking just because we haven't seen it. Not that it's great or anything but he has three knockdowns in three ufc fights. The striking seemed fairly even before the TKO. Lesnar did a good job. He was so big Randy couldn't take any weight off of him to throw a strike from the clinch. Lesnar stayed patient and waited for his chance to get off the fence.

I'm rooting for Nog to beat Lesnar in the championship. I think that will be a very long tough fight.

I'm dissapointed as I think Randy vs Nog would have been a better fight.

What did you guys think?

Kinda shocked to be honest.  I was rooting for Randy as I think Lesnar just wasn't ready for a title shot.  He really isn't proven although the UFC really doesn't go by that system sometimes.

As far as the fight goes, I don't like using the word "lucky" when talking about MMA but the punch that got Randy was about as lucky as it gets.  He saw it coming, dodged as best he could and just got caught in the temple at the perfect time from the perfect angle.  It was almost like the punch Serra landed on GSP.

I can't completely dog Lesnar though and I will say that by the time he defends his title, he will be (at least) tough for anyone.  Hey, it could be worse.  The UFC could have signed Kimbo over Lesnar.

2x that!!!

Enjoyed the match.  I really thought Couture could win that.  I was really thinking he would win after watching the first round.  Lesnar was starting to tank when RC kept him in the cage.  But, just hard to compete when one of those "big hams" come your way.

Was glad to see a little humility from Lesnar and giving Randy the respect he deserves.  Lesnar gets his cardio going and more experience he is going to dominate for a while.

Noguiera vs. Lesnar? Don't hand Nog the torch just yet, he still has to beat Mir first and that's not going to be a picnic.

We'll see if Lesnar is for real when he defends the belt. Lesnar has already said that he would like to fight Mir again to try to avenge that loss. Mir vs Nog should be a great fight.

And whoever said that Lesnar could dominate for a while if he can get his game together, is probably right. Dude is an ANIMAL! Congrats to him, there's only a handful of guys on the earth that can say they whipped Randy Couture.

I'm disappointed about the results.  My dad drove in from Central California and we went to the fights.  It was dramatically different than when you watch it on t.v.  We had a great time though and are probably going to the Dec 27 fights.  After the fight the fighters were really cool.  We took pics with Forrest Griffin, Wanderlei Silva, Stephan Bonner, Dana White, Louozo, Gonzaga (sorry for spelling on some) and 50 Cent was even taking pics.  50 cent is surprisingly smaller in person than he appears on t.v.  Anyhow, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

Take Care

Haha yeah that came across like I was giving Nog the fight. Mir has a chance of course. Though it would really surpise me if he did win. I was more saying it because I'd like to see Nog win because I think Nog vs. Lesnar would be a better fight.

Hey Joe how was it different in person? Was Wanderlei Silva as nice as I'd like to think he is?

Lesnar was losing that fight until he landed that big shot. His next fight will be againt Mir or Noguiera and will result in a loss. Couture as good as he is, is past his prime. Lesnar sincerly lacks truly lacks a MMA skillset maybe in a couple of years he will dominate but, he will loose his first title defense againts the winner of Mir vs. Noguiera!

Surprisingly everyone was extremely cool.  It wasn't like a typical professional sport where the athletes are arrogant jerks.  Most fighters after the fights would come up into the stands for the rest of the venue and take pictures with fans and sit with family or friends.  I also thought the atmosphere would be full of testosterone and drunks that all think they are the next fighter, not true either.  There were two jerks that we saw all night.  Something we also observed was that for the first half of the venue there was no energy in the place.  The arena was half empty until the last couple of fights.  Towards the end though the energy did pick up and the place was intense.  All in all it was a great time.  Maybe one day I'll get around to posting some of the pics from my phone.
