Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 3, 2008 Super User Posted November 3, 2008 Hendrix ( of course) SRV Steve Vai Clapton - who is starting to be my favorite musician. BB King Santana Andy McKee Jimmy Page Brian Carroll (AKA Buckethead) Duane Allman Joe Perry Keith Richards Jack White Kurt Cobain I'll also add Vic Wooten, Les Claypool, and Marcus Miller as great bass players to the list. Dave, note that Kirk Hammet is not on my list. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted November 3, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 3, 2008 And Clapton is not on mine Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 3, 2008 Super User Posted November 3, 2008 I don't think I have any more to add between Muddy and Hookem's lists. Muddy, I like the nods for Lightnin' Hopkins and Son House, nice picks. Those guys are incredible on acoustics and I don't think I've seen anyone play a dobro as Son House did. He played very intensely and on some songs he plays solo but he plays so many parts that you can almost hear drums that aren't there. Apparently he introduced Robert Johnson to slide guitar but I don't know if that's true. I know he was one of the originals to do and popularize it though. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted November 3, 2008 Super User Posted November 3, 2008 John Frusciante Billy Corgan Ginger Reyes (OK! she just a bass guitarist, but man she is smoking!) I saw her played in concert with Smashing Pumpkin' in knoxville this past august. She pretty darn good and did I mention she is friggen hot? Quote

I think he did actually play some of the songs, though. Even so, I don't think he is good at guitar. Also, Ry Cooder did the soundtrack. Quote
