Super User fourbizz Posted November 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 7, 2008 Oh man. I havent thought of contra for a long time. I think I have it on an emulator here somewhere. That was a frustrating game! Quote
jax Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Maybe this will help... Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B,A,B,A, Start That is too funny. It is amazing how well known and how impossible to forget that code is. It is amazing how that code still lives on. COD 5 is a little boring so far. It feels like going from Halo 2 to Halo 3. It just feels tired. I played the beta. I hope the release is better. I'm holding out for Left for Dead. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted November 7, 2008 Super User Posted November 7, 2008 I"m having a lot of fun with the COD:5 beta. The dogs are hilarious and crazy. It's fun IMO. Quote
Infidel. Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 What is sad is that is from contra on nintendo. Ouch! That and a ton of other Konami Games. Sad thing is that NES is still the only game system I own. Quote
jeremyt Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 This is on 360. Ive been a die hard playstation fan since 96, i went to my buddies house and played cod4, and flippantly said to my girl " baby get me this". Came home from fishing a week later and a 360, extra controller, and cod4 was sitting on my bed. shes awesome! i really wish i had a ps3 so i could play Metal Gear Solid 4, and the new Gran Turismo though. All of my favorite games are playstation only > I am fortunate enough to own both systems (thank god for kids) COD4 is an awesome game, much better on the 360 , but the online is just so much better than the campaign if you can handle the online smack talk from 12yo ;D without losing it. I have recently rented the new Gran Turismo Prologue for PS3 and it is awesome until you get to the B class races and have to pass 16 cars with a "honda" integra that has about as much hp as a pinto. I am frustrated as heck now. I was going to rent the new SOCOM but I had to make a choice between the two. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 i beat it on veteran thats my other hobby call of duty 4 and 5. the beta for 5 is awesome so the game should be even better. i love the glitches also i love getting out of maps and skywalking. also on 5 you can get under the map like on 4 but on 5 you can kill people from under the map at roundhouse. if anyone wants to see glitches on 4 i could show them. Quote
Fish Man Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 right now im loving the Beta. the graphics arent great but the maps themselves impress me. they are much more open and provide for better sniping. its actually a challange now unlike the online version of Cod 4 Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 8, 2008 Super User Posted November 8, 2008 the online in COD4 isn't challenging? it is if you play the right people... Quote
daviscw Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 COD5 isn't really COD5 is it? My roomate was telling me about how the makers of the new COD can't use the "5" because of copyright infringement. Like they are two seperate game makers. They said the makers of the new COD made an older COD and that it sucked. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 8, 2008 Super User Posted November 8, 2008 The games had different developers. The developer of World at War also developed COD3. I beleive the rest were made by Infinity Ward which has a lot of respect for making great games. I never played COD 3 but I know it wasn't nearly as popular as the others. Quote
Top Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 I just got 4 for the PC.... hopefully after 5 comes out the price will go down and i can afford to get 4 on the 360... its bad because some of the parts give me flashbacks LOL Quote
Super User Micro Posted November 8, 2008 Super User Posted November 8, 2008 I play CoD on my PC. I loved the PC line - CoD, United Offensive, and CoD2. World at War is going to be insane. The videos are incredible. I just upgraded my PC, so I hope I have the horsepower to play it on max settings. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 I dunno. I'm worried about the change in developers. That can make a HUGE difference in sequel games. Quote
Fish Man Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 the online in COD4 isn't challenging? it is if you play the right people... no. you misunderstood my post. i am saying that sniping on CoD4 isnt challenging. spots are way to obvious, the maps are to small and opponents stand out like a sore thumb. personally i think its way to easy to spot a person. The new CoD seems much better though because there are many spots to snipe from and the players arent dressed/designed in a way that they are too easy to spot Quote
jax Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 COD 4 and World at War are two different styles of play. COD 4 is more urban close quarters combat. World at War is more open battle field combat. COD 3 was an awesome game. It is still one of my favorites. Treyarch's COD 3 had much better bullet recognition. World at War is more like playing on a much larger Overgrown map. Both are based on the same game engine but have a different feel to them. World at War takes a little more team communication and coordination in my opinion due to the larger maps and vehicles. Both are great games. Quote
