May was my best bass month in years, for both size and numbers.

The #1 lure was the jig with trailer. I had great luck with the 3/8 oz

Evolution jig, GMAN's 1/2 oz and earthworm77 (Micro Munch Tackle)

1/2 oz jigs. Although I caught fish on a number of trailers, the Net Pac

Baby Craw has really gotten my attention. I will still fish others, but

the Baby Craw is all you really need.

#2 3/8 oz Caviton Buzzbait (black on black)

#3 (Yesterday) The Shak-E2 Head with a variety of soft plastics:

Roboworm 6" Shakin' Zipper, GYCB Kut-Tail and Net Bait Paca Craw.

#4 Either JJ's Magic or MegaStike have been used on every trailer.

Although JJ's is effective, it is a pain to use. MegaStrike seems

to be just as effective and much more user friendly.

#5 I am all about KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. Get some!

I caught one nice bass on a Smithwick Floating Rogue; never have

had a strike on the VibraSpin which I have now fished more than

ten hours; and have not fished a Senko, Fat Ika or any other soft

plastic other than with the Shak-E2 Head yesterday. That is a BIG

change for me.

Caught most of my fish in the past 2 months on these.  Biggest ones on the 6 inch senko....

I gotta get back to the jig myself.  Too many baits, so little time....

May was my best year as far as size and numbers go as well. For LM anyway. I haven't had too much time to go down to my "spot" yet for  SM this year. Only been twice.

But I can get to my LM spot in under three minutes so that helps with limited time.

#1. Zoom Trick Worm in Watermelon on a 1/4 oz. drop shot with a 3/0 Gammy G-Lock Worm Hook on 10 lb test mono line.

#2. Mann's Hardnose Swim Toad in a varitey of colors (whatevers suit the water conditions) with a 5/0 Gammy G-Lock Worm hook with 30-50 lb Sufix braid.

Using them both in shallow cover. They been working for the past 1 or 2 weeks now.

April and May was without a dought a Berkely Powerbait Chigger Craw in Black/ Blue or Red Flake with a 3/0 G-Lock Worm Hook and a pegged 1/8 bullet weight. Pitching it into shallow cover but that technique has come and gone.

Its June now, on to Frogs!

A wacky rigged finesse worm or Trick worm. 381 bass in May for 11 days of fishing and 11 bass over 4#. That is one more than May  2007 and 27 more than May 2006.

I've been focusing on learning the jig this year and it has resulted in larger than normal fish.  I'm becoming a big fan of this bait.

Senko style worms are also producing well.

i love throwing spoons. nobody fishes them anymore and they just gawk when i pull fish after fish in the boat

Size of fish is really eluding me this year, but I'm fishing off of small ponds.  I just found out that Ft. Hood and the DWF aren't managing these lakes for bass and not stocking them, so the big fish are probably getting coats of batter put on them.  It's sad, but I'm moving in a month or two anyway...so hopefully the fish are better where I'm going.  Numbers has been sketchy...definitely not like it used to be, but I'm still doing really well.  better than anyone else that I know on post.  Anyway, here's what is working for me.

1)  This bait never fails me.  On several different riggings, the summer craw colored Rage Tail Craw is my number 1 producer right now.

2)  Mann's baby 1- baby bass colored crankbait is always a good choice when bass are chasing small forage above grass in shallow water.  This lure is a go-to right now along with the rage tail craw.

3)  Rebel Pop-R has been my number 1 topwater for probably 10 years.  True, it gets more time on the water than buzz baits, walk-the-dogs, and everything else, but it always rocks.  I love these things.

4)  * Trick Stick T-rigged weightless seems to be the only lure that will work mid-day for me right now.  The grass is too shallow and too thick to punch it effectively and bass are hiding in the pockets, unwilling to hit reaction lures.  The trick stick is doing it's fair share of work, but I'm running out of them.  Hopefully I get to place and order in a few days.

5)  * *** on a 1/4 ounce jighead, swam just above the grass has been pulling a good number of fish when they are a tad more active.

Bass season has been open for just over a week here so haven't fished that much yet.  Thanks to RW's suggestions, I've had some very good success on the Fat IKA, black/blue and baby bass colors.  I also caught quite a few fish on the Kreature from Yamamoto rigged per RW's suggestion, color watermelon, black and red flakes.

I have always heard that the bigger bait the bigger fish. From what I have learned over the past few years as Im sure u all know, is that is not always the case. I got my biggest fish off a 2 1/2 inch popper. I think my top 3 lures for this year has been...
