SDoolittle Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I really see Bama and TT loosing this weekend as well as Florida. I would love to see all three of those teams lose! I think OSU/TT will be the best game. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 6, 2008 Super User Posted November 6, 2008 I know I'm probably wrong, but I think if one of those 3 teams has a chance of getting blown out, it is TT. Quote
atx_newbie Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I'm from Louisiana, and a long-time LSU fan, so it hurts to say this, but: Alabama will be LSU. Handily. Sure, it's "Saban's first game back in Death Valley" and the players and fans will be really hyped up for it. Then Lee will throw the obligatory pick-6 in the first drive and that will deflate both team and fans. After that it'll just be ugly. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 6, 2008 Super User Posted November 6, 2008 TT will beat OSU by a "safe" margin. Not a blowout, but not close. Florida will destroy Vandy. I'm hoping that LSU beats Bama, but it probably isn't going to happen. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 7, 2008 Super User Posted November 7, 2008 LSU has won the last five straight games against Bama. Game is in afternoon in Tiger Stadium. LSU does not play well in the afternoon. Although we are having our LSU turkey fry for the game, unless Lee doesn't screw up; and the pass defense plays some pass defense; it's not going to be pretty in Red Stick this Saturday. Hey, the Indy Bowl in Shreveport is a good bowl. ;D Quote
electrikal Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Bama leaves Death Valley to the sweet refrains of " rammerjammer Yellow Hammer". Bama 30 LSU 14 with at least one touchdown by the Bama defense. 8-) Quote

Especially for a "rebuilding" year. Anyway, LSU will probably be in either the Cotton Bowl or Capital One Bowl. A win there and that's 10-3, the fourth straight season with 10 wins. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 7, 2008 Super User Posted November 7, 2008 Bama has only one quality win this year which was against Georgia; the Dawgs scored 30 in the second half. The Vegas Odds have Bama as a 3 ½ favorite Quote

Super User Root beer Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 The bama vs lsu was an AWESOME game! The tide overcame adversity and played until the game was won. Great game LSU fans. This will go down in the record book as a classic SEC battle. Auburn is struggling, Tennessee has a losing season, and Alabama is ranked 1 life is good in tuscaloosa. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 The Tiger's gave Bama 14 points on turnovers and still took Bama to OT; Bama will not get out of the SEC Championship game against the Gators. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 The Tiger's gave Bama 14 points on turnovers and still took Bama to OT; Bama will not get out of the SEC Championship game against the Gators. Why all the hatred? Alabama didn't even play their best and still won. Whether the tigers did this or that, but in the end Alabama just made more plays to win. I'm sitting here congratulating you for a great game and your getting all hasty by saying "ya, the tiger gave Alabama 14 points." Come on man! Quote
electrikal Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Give it up Root Beer. You will never get any appreciation for Bama from Catt as long as Saban is coach! On the other hand I wouldn't call that game "awesome". Sloppy and gut wrenching are more accurate. We were lucky to get out with a win. I was disappointed with JP and his "copycat Tebow" move. :-[ He should have left the classless acts to the LSU fans. Jones & Coffee were the only bright spots we had going for us on offense. Julio played like a madman . At least we will get a shot at Florida and who would want to watch another Florida/LSU slaughter other than a bunch of Gators. ;D ROLL TIDE ROLL Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 Box score: 1st quarter: John Parker Wilson rushed up the middle for 1 yard gain (Leigh Tiffin made PAT) after Jarrett Lee interception. 2nd quarter: Rashad Johnson intercepted Jarrett Lee for 54 yards (Leigh Tiffin made PAT) 3rd quarter: Glen Coffee rushed to the left for 3 yard gain (Leigh Tiffin made PAT) Jarrett Lee 13-34 181 yds 4 int Quote
Super User Root beer Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 Fine, if you want go down that road then lets go down that road. Jarrett Lee has been playing all season, he had plenty of time to learn. Les Miles should've taught him not to throw into coverage (JPW should've did same.) my point is he been playing all season. Alabama read his coverage and intercept the ball. Alabama offense played kind of sloppy, but the defense will bail us out just like in 2005. But difference between now and 2005 is we actually got an offense on days we are clicking and executing. It doesn't matter how the game was won, but fact is Alabama came out and made some plays on defense and won the game. It had nothing to do with Nick Saban vs Les Miles it simiply has to do with the fact that Alabama players wanted to win just as bad. Alabama did have 3 Turnovers and one of them result in a LSU touchdown, we also had a penatly that set up an LSU scoring drive. So yes LSU had a lot of chance to stick a knife in our heart, but our defense made plays. You can argue all day long about the 4 interception, but fact is Alabama had 3 turnovers and a pentaly that set up a touchdown for LSU. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 2 of the 4 interceptions were thrown directly at the Bama defense no reading of Lee involved; every time LSU was stopped it was not due to Bama's defense. Bama fans would have to be delusional to believe they out played a struggling LSU to win this game and even more delusional to believe they could out play Texas Tech, Texas, or Florida. This has nothing to do with any hatred for Bama or Saban it has to do with cold hard facts and the cold hard fact is Sally Jessica Parker is incapable of winning a championship with his arm which is what he will have to do to win an SEC or BCS Championship. Having the opposing quarterback on their team certainly helped! I can't believe a bigtime team/ coach would leave a complete incompetent in charge for an entire game. Lee was pitiful. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 9, 2008 Super User Posted November 9, 2008 FYI Alabama's passing defense is ranked 48th nationally & 8th in the SEC Where are Texas Tech, Texas, & Florida ranking in passing offense? Quote
electrikal Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 FYI Alabama[ch8217]s passing defense is ranked 48th nationally & 8th in the SEC Where are Texas Tech, Texas, & Florida ranking in passing offense? FYI Alabama is ranked 31st nationally & 6th in SEC. and the answer is - 1st, 10th, 64th respectively. Number of teams with a higher ranked pass offense than Florida that Bama has beaten - 6 lost - 0 8-) I'm glad the games are won on the field not on the rankings. What I find interesting is that the SEC #1 pass efficiency/rushing offense leader (FL) & #1 pass efficiency/rush defense (Bama) will be going at it. Should be a good matchup. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 10, 2008 Super User Posted November 10, 2008 I don't know where you are getting your statistics but according to Rivals.com & Fox Sports Alabama's passing defense is ranked 48th in total yards passing. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/stats/byteam?cat1=defense&cat2=Passing&conference=I-AA_all http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/sortableStatsTeam?div=CFB&stype=DEFENSE&stable=overall&stat=overallPassYds&dir=ascending Rivals.com now has Alabama's SEC passing defense ranked at 9th http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/stats/byteam?cat1=offense&cat2=Passing&conference=I-A_SEC&year=2008 Tim Tebow has thrown for 17 TDs & rushed for 10 more Quote
electrikal Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 http://web1.ncaa.org/football/exec/rankingSummary?org=235&year=2008&week=11 Ncaa ranking appears to be based on yards per game - Rival is total yards. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 10, 2008 Super User Posted November 10, 2008 On your listed web site, go to home, total pass defense, sort by total passing yards given up thus far in 10 games & you will come up with 1854 yds which puts Alabama @ 48th overall. Rivals can be sorted by any category but any way you cut it Alabama is in trouble against a good passing offence as proven by Georgia's Matthew Stafford who has only 60.9% completions. Quote
