IMPY03 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm in between on whether I believe in Ghost still but... One night last year I was staying at a friends house way out in the country in this really old rental farm house. Well the power was out all day and night (I cant remember why) but we had to use candle light. So we are in seperate rooms lying in bed and I hear this noise like someone was knocking on the front door, well I figure my friend would hear it and go see who it was or if it was his roommate. 5 minutes later I hear footsteps coming up the steps and my buddys roommate's door slams. Well by then I get up and so does my friend and we are trying to talk to his roommate through the door but no one answers so finally we open the door and no one was there or even in the house!! Very freaky and just imagine all of this in the pitch black with candle light....very very spooky! 1 Quote

Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 I'm not a believer in ghosts, but this has happened to me a few times. I'll be sitting at the computer, driving down the road by myself, or even taking a shower and I'll hear "hey" or "Logan". It's like someone is next to me whispering in my ear. It's happened on a number of occasions. I might be crazy in the head. 1 Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 I swear I have a ghost in my house. Atleast 3-4 times a week, while sitting here in the living room playing on the computer, I see this shadow. It comes from the hall closet and goes into the laundry room, which are directly across from each other. I was sitting here late the other night browsing BR when I caught a glimpse of a shadow out the corner of my eye. The laundry room door was opened about 6 inches and the light went on. I assumed the wife had gotten out of bed to turn the dryer back on. I continued reading posts when I noticed the light go out. I instantaneously called out for my wife but no answer. I went into the bedroom and woke her up. She was sound to sleep and snoring. I went into my sons room and woke him up. He was also sound to sleep and ticked OFF that I woke him up. The wife insists it's her deceased grandfather. She claims he would frequently appear in her parents house before we got married. Like I said, this happens about 3-4 times a week that I have noticed. I went a long time not saying anything to anyone until the laundry room light went on. 1 Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 A few years ago I had to give a speech in my COMS class. The topic was Something Unique to do is Kansas City. It had to be within a 30 mile radius of downtown and it had to be something that not many people knew about. So one night I was flipping through the channels and I saw that the Travel Channel had something on like Haunted Kansas or something like that. So I stopped and started watching and was mildly intrigued. I am not really into that stuff, but I thought it was kind of cool because it was kind of local. At the end of show they did a bit about how the city gives Haunted Trolley Tours that explore the haunted stories of Atchison. DING!!! DING!!!! A speech topic and a girl I was dating at the time was kind of into this stuff. I could kill two birds with one stone. Score!! So I called the next day to find out more info about it and to my surprise I was able to reserve the last two spots on the trolley for the next Friday. I couldn't believe there were so many people booking for this thing. That piqued my interest a bit. So we rode the trolley and did the tour thing. The stories were kind of interesting, but in general I wasn't too impressed. I thought we were going to be able to walk through the houses. NOPE!!! Just parked the bus in front of the house and the narrator would tell the story about the house. So at the end I decided to drive myself to one of the houses and snap some pics to use for visual aids in my speech. I get to the house only to find out I left my good camera at home. Luckily I had my tackle bag in my truck in which I kept a crappy digital camera I used for fishing. My date also wanted her pic in front of the house. So we get out and she goes in front of the house and I snap this pic ... Now I know some might say this pic was caused by the shutter speed. You have to understand the camera I used to take this pic was probably among the first digital cameras ever made. About the most advance feature it had was flash. It was VERY VERY basic. Supposedly one of the "traits" of this ghost is electronic malfunction. I don't know what to think about the whole thing, but it definitely had me thinking. Here is a link to info about this particular house. It has been featured on various ghost hunting shows over the years. -Sallie the Heartland Ghost http://www.legendsofamerica.com/OZ-HauntedAtchison-2.html If you are intersted you can rent the house for a night. I also reported about this here back in 2006: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1157774941/0 Quote

Super User Sam Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 Yes, in my house. Seems we started to smell pipe tobacco and no one smokes. Then, when we were out the ADT alarm kept sounding off as something was moving around in the house. Five years ago an archeologist from Woodbridge, Virginia knocked at our front door and said he was hired to find the two white and one slave cemeteries in the area. He found the slave cemetery but could not find the white cemeteries and did we know where they were? Nope, other than under our house. When things started to happen around our house I would yell at the ghost to stop it and behave. So far, no more problems. 1 Quote
Super User Micro Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 I've had two odd experiences on some state-owned land in Charles City County, Virginia. Both occurred on the Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area (WMA). A few years ago I had arrived at the WMA at about a 4:45 AM. I was spring-turkey hunting and had parked my truck at the shooting range. I walked about 3/4 mile or so down a gravel road to the "dove fields." At the back end of the dove fields there used to be an old house and barn. Some remnants of the house are still there, the barn has been torn down, and the silo still stands. There is a large oak tree at the end of the gravel road, and I suspect it may have been in the "front yard" of the house that used to stand there. Anyways, I was alone. I had my Remington SP-10 10 gauge with me - not much makes me nervous with that. It was pretty cold, and the moon was high and bright. It was very clear. I walked to the end of the gravel road and stood by the oak tree. I was relieving myself under the shelter of the tree. I looked down the trail that I had just traveled and saw a red light, very subtle, and very diffuse. It was round, about 4-5 feet off the ground. If was brighter in the center, and faded on the edges. I figured it was the taillights of a truck that was pulling into the little parking area. But the light never went out, and I heard no sounds. Then I realized the light was coming towards me. Then I decided if must be a red flashlight another hunter was using as he came down the trail. But the trail was gravel and the sound carries, and this was totally silent. The light kept coming. No sound, no shaking, and nothing that looked like ti was being shone off to the side like a person carrying a flashlight might do. The light kept coming and finally it appeared to be about 50 yards or so from me. The light then drifted off to my left. It hovered across the field and faded out as it reached the wood line. It it faded, it didn't get switched off. I never heard any sound, and had it been someone walking, I would have heard it. I would have been able to see them too, given that the moon was so bright. I was totally dumbfounded. I still don't know what I saw. My second experience wasn't more than a 100 yard or so from that same tree. Thsi time it was fall and I was squirrel hunting. I had passed the tree and made a left and walked into the back fields. There is a small trail there than leads back to Morris Creek. There's lots of hardwoods back there, and lots of squirrels. It was morning, and she sky was just turning orange in the east. I went back to a hardwood stand and chose my seat. It was pretty still. As I sat there, I began to hear voices. It got louder when I realized that I was hearing a conversation between a man and woman. It was as if they were 10 feet away. But there was no one. I couldn't make out what they were saying. But it was very clearly a two-way conversation between a man and woman. I stood up. I could see the Chickahominy River through the trees and deducted there must be some atmospheric anomaly that was allowing sound to carry across the river - there is a house across the river. But that's quite a distance, more than a mile. The conversation continued for what I'm guessing was 15 minutes. I was listening to it like it was happening right next to me. But there was no one around. And I never could understand what was being said, as if there language was completely foreign to me. Laugh if you want. But I'm the most skeptical person around. And these things were really weird and still cannot beging to explain them. The land on which this happened has a long history. Captain John Smith explored it. Indians lived there before Europeans arrived. I guess if a place can be haunted, it would be as good as any. 1 Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I would have to say I believe, but I'm not entirely sure exactly what I believe in! I think the little things that happen to most people in their lifetime are the main reason I believe, rather than hearing the big "wow" stories. For instance, just this past weekend my wife's grandmother walked in to her bedroom to find the nightshirt her husband used to wear laid out on the bed. He has been dead for about 6 years, and she has moved since he passed. She said she had wondered what happened to his favorite night shirt, and now she found it laid out nicely on the bed with no one else around, so she now sleeps with it laid out next to her. I have heard a first-hand account of one story that I thought was definitely a "wow" story that could not be explained logically. My buddy has an uncle who lives in Bristol, VA on campground road. He had told us before that the house he lived in was haunted, but we didnt really give it much thought, until we found it in a book about hauntings (haunted VA or something like that). Apparently the house had been the home of an elderly woman who had quite a few adopted children living with her, but due to some tragic accident they had all died (a fire or something, I forget). But in 2004 as my budddy's uncle (Ronny) and his wife were leaving the house they witnessed a big accident on the curve of the road in front of the house. A logging truck had taken the turn wide and smashed into a car coming toward him. As they pulled over and ran down, they find a little girl and a woman in the car. The mother appeared to be dead, so this guy and his wife get the little girl out so she does not have to see her mother. The wife takes the girl to the edge of the road to sit down while they both run back down to see how the mother is doing. They both conclude that the mother is dead, and that nothing can be done. They return to the little girl who tells them "my mommy is in heaven now, isn't she?" They ask why she says that and the little girl informs them "the old lady told me mommy died and was going to heaven, but I could live with her in that house up there" and pointed toward their home on the hill. The little girl described this old woman and the truck driver said he had sat there the whole time watching the girl, and that he saw her talking and looking up, but he just thought she was praying. A wild story to hear him tell, and he tears up each time he tells it. I dont know how else to begin to explain that one! 1 Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 I used to hang around people who look for this stuff.I had some weird friends. They wanted to go to grave yard sites at night, needless to say i was the chicken one. #1.One night i was 9 the lights actually turned off in the house.I got up to turn them back on and as soon as i sat back down on the couch they would go right back off...at the 3rd time i realize something spooky was going on.Then the volume on the TV got louder and softer and i ran outside.Well my brothers were outside talking to some girls at the time and they asked me why i kept turning the lights off and on.I tried explaining to them i wasn't turning them off,i was just turning them on because they kept turning off by themselves.Needless to say i stayed outside with my brothers wreaking their game with the girls because i was too chicken to go back inside the house by myself. #2.I've seen a Big rat looking creature walk right above the pastor in the church full of people.I near freaked out and go "Mom! look at the size of that RAT!!!" Problem was nobody else saw it....this rat was the most creepiest i ever seen, the face however didn't look like an actual rat. I really can't explain it for i only saw it for about 2 or 3 seconds. A week later my mom met a lady who could actually see demons and angels told my mom it is very possible i saw a demon in that church. She said too she'd seen them looking like rats but the present of them scare you because you get that evil feeling when you look at them. #3.This is more of a christian thing, but needless it was strange. I was riding my bike with my brother and another kid.I was 10 years old and we just moved to TX not more than 3-4 days ago.I was about a mile or two from the house. The kid we were with decided to take a short cut back home down a deep hill with a cliff drop off.Needless to say i hit a rock and went straight down 12 foot cliff.I close my eyes and all i remember was it felt like i landed on a giant pillow. I came to(guess i was knocked out) and my brother and the other kid was looking down at me and going "dude you alright?" and i replied "yeah i'm ok". Well i followed them back home and put my bike down as i walked in the house my brother, the kid we were with, my mom and dad looked like Deers in headlights! I said "what's wrong?" my mom goes "how did you find your way home?" I said well i followed my brother and tony(the other kid) home. She goes well they've been home for a minute or so trying to tell us you are dead and fell off a cliff. Say what you want.....i followed somebody home and to this day i believe i followed my guardian angels. It's a memory I'll never forget. 1 Quote

jigandpig Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 i have had a few expirences. the one i cant ever seem to get over happend one night at an old lake that me and some other buddies got permision to fish at in miamisburg/west carrollton ohio. known to be one of the most haunted towns in ohio... so we got to the lake at about 8:45 pm about a half hour before dark and start fishing. about an hour goes by and it is now completely dark we decide to stay and fish a while because we were catching quite a few fish. at about 9:30pm me and my buddy both hear two people talking... now this lake is in the middle of acres of cornfields with only a few houses around and they are pretty far away and a train track about a hundred yards back behind us on the other side of a set of woods. the voices were coming from back by the tracks... we both wonder who would be by the tracks that late at night. we just kept fishing not thinking much of it. about 10 min later the voices stop. its completely quiet out, other than the crickets. we catch a few more fish and decide to leave so were walkin up the hill to the car parked on the gravel road by the wood line after we get about 20 yards from the car we hear footsteps walking down the gravel road. we get to the car and start putting the tackle and the poles in the car. the footsteps are very close now we start looking up the trail to see who it is we see nobody but the foot steps got closer and closer... were both like what the h*** is that? and the footsteps go right past us but there was no one there!!! we both run over to the car get in and leave as fast as we could. we both agreed that that was the weirdest scariest thing we had ever seen or encountered. we have been back to the lake and fised a few more times (only because the fishing was so good) (i even caught one of my biggest bass out of there) we have heard and seen some really freaky stuff out there and have never been there and not heard or seen something we cant explain. we did talk to on of the people that live in one of the houses nearby and they said that there was a house back there a long time ago that burned down and the people who lived there died in the fire!!! thats creepy. 1 Quote
basser89 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Back in my teen years, I was running around with a couple of my friends around halloween and we decided to go scope out this old "haunted" girls school that had been shut down for many years. To add to the thrills, the school was located behind a cemetary. There was a bright full moon out that night and it was pretty much sitting right over top the school. Well, we decided to drive up into the cemetary and walk back through the field. We park the car and decide to make a game plan on what we were going to do at that point. While we're scheming away, I looked up at the school and all of a sudden, this blue hue appeared in the second story window. It lasted for several minutes and then went away. It wierded us out and we decided to move on to some other mischief instead. Later on we talked ourselves into believing it was the moon's reflection in one of the windowns. The next day, one of the guys and I figured we check it out during the day. We drive back to the cemetary and look up at the school, that's when we realized that all of the glass had been broken out of the windows! We later learned all of the floors had fallen in over the years. Still can't explain that one to this day! A few years back, I lived in Sharpsburg, MD (home of the bloodiest 1 day battle on American soil, during the Civil War). In September, around the aniversary of the Battle of Antietam, I would be sitting in the living room watching tv and would here a chain rattling outside. Since I lived in a delevopement, I initially dismissed this as someone walking their dog on the street. One evening, I heard the noise several times and it sounded like it was right out infront of the house, so I popped on the front porch light and opened the door to see who was in the yard. I looked up and down the road, no one there. I went out and checked all around the house, no one there either. My only guess it was Union soldiers that had been captured by the Confederates (General Lee's camp was roughly 1000 yards away from where I lived)! Ironically, the name of the street I lived on, General Lee Drive! Quote
Holden Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 We own a small house in Eldora, Colorado which is about an hour north of Boulder. It is a very small mining town that has a hell of a lot of history. One day, my girlfriend and my aunt, who has lived out there for her entire life decided to go explore a house that my aunt stumbled across one day in the early 80's. This house is in the middle of absolute NOWHERE and my aunt is still surprised that she was able to find it again. Anyways, this cabin stands at the top of a valley right above the tree line. There is a window looking out over the valley that you must walk through to enter the house. Okay so my girlfriend and my aunt decide to explore the barn first. In the barn, they find chests full of pictures that were from the late 1800's. Inside the barn, there was a well, a bed frame with old comforters and shattered glass everywhere. My aunt has a digital camera and she began taking pictures and in the pictures, balls of energy or "orbs" showed up throughout the film. Then my aunt decides to search the main cabin. She managed to remove the fallen tree that layed across the front of the door and she walked inside. She said it felt as if she had "walked back into history." She said the most everything in the house was still intact. There was a dining table, a stove, a couple of hand carved wooden chairs and a lot of shattered glass. It was very dark inside of the house because it was an overcast day and the windows were boarded up. My aunt remembers seeing a hint of sunlight coming from the stairs, so she makes her way up the stairs that led to the second story of the cabin. She remembers stepping over A LOT of shattered glass laying on the stairs. When she got upstairs, she saw glass everywhere on the ground. Broken chairs, and a bed metal bed frame faced toward the wall. There was one window in the far end of the room that looked over the valley. It was the only window in the house which was not boarded up. There was an old wooden rocking chair facing the window. After spending a couple minutes upstairs, she begins to walk down stairs. As soon as her head gets below level with the second story floor, she hears a slight banging from the room she had just left. Puzzled, she walks back up very quietly. She peaks her eyes at floor level. (She's on stairs coming from up from the first level.) At that very second she sees a figure of a woman sitting in the rocking chair and rocking back and forth. She then said that the woman turned as if she was looking back at my aunt and then she disappeared. My aunt immediately turned and raced down the stairs and all she remembers is hearing four or five loud thumps. As my aunt was on the last stair of the staircase, she felt a force pushing her that was gradually increasing. It ended up pushing so hard that it pushed my aunt in to the wall at the bottom of the stairs. At this point my aunt was screaming and she sprinted out of the house and down through the valley. My girlfriend, who had heard her screams, ran after her. After catching her breath. My aunt looked back up at the house sitting at the top of the valley and looked straight through the window on the second floor. And at that time she she got this strong feeling of sadness. That is all she ever tells anyone. My girlfriend says there is more to the story but only my aunt can truly tell what happened. Weird huh? I don't know what to make of the story. I have been to the cabin a couple times and it is definitely a weird place. We believe it is the cabin to the miner named William Harty. Supposedly Hartly and his wife both were snowed in during the middle of December and starved later that month. Crazy stuff. 1 Quote
-HAWK- Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Definetly some creepy stories! Heres mine. In 2005 me and my wife went on our honey moon to St. Augustine, FL. We stayed at a small bed and breakfast called "Alexander Homestead Bed & Breakfast" The home was built in 1888, when you walk in to the House it feels as if you just went back in time. During our stay, we had the whole house to our selves. One morning before dawn, as I lay in the bed I hear the knob for the shower slowly creek to the on position. Then the water turns on and starts running. At this point seeing that my wife is still in the bed, I flip out. So I run to the bathroom, swing open the door and the noise stops instantly. The shower is in the Off position and the shower area is completely dry. So I check all the other rooms in the house, and nothing. At this point im thinking to my self "I don't understand is going on here", so I decided to just go back to bed and forget about it. As I lay in the bed now with the bathroom door wide open, I find myself laying there watching the shower area for movement. After about twenty minutes I find myself starting to doze off, just as my eyes are starting to close "BAM!!!!!!!!!!" The bathroom door slams shut and the shower turns on. Needless to say we packed our bags and left ASAP. 1 Quote
Super User Muddy Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 Hey Fellas: This account is 100% TRUTHFUL, the names have been changed to protect the innocent. Last year on a trip to Lake Fork, Long Mike found an inlet that was not on any opf the maps, it just kind of appeared on the way to Little Mustang, we couldn't even find it on the GPS. It was 5am and the mist was thick on the lake. We shut the gas motor off and Mike ( thank God) got on the front and used the trolling motor toget us back there. Wehn we got off the main channel and entered the cove, the temp dropped drastically and we could see our breath it was so cold. Mike turned to me and said " I have a bad feeling about this!' and then we could see it a huge area with at least 100 beds in about 5 ft of water, and there were fat females on at least 1/2 of them. You never saw two fellas get thier baits in the water so fast. Throwing all caution to the wind we just started to work this are. I noticed it first but there was no noise back there, no crickets, no birds, not even the noise of water lapping against the shore. There in the middle of the cove was one of Rick the D*$K's finest rentals WITH NO ONE VISIBLE IN THE BOAT!!!!! We stayed a good distance but close enough to figure out if someone was in the boat. We were both startled when about 4 or 5 feet from the boat there was first a huge swell and then we saw a 7 foot alligator and something so horrible I could not even begin to describe it locked in a death roll and trashing about The Gator and the hiddious beast were fighting over a fish the bloody battle continued on for some 10 minutes, when all of a sudden the alligator was flotaing on its back dead as a door nail and the beast was swiming over to the boat, with the fish in it's mouth. The beast then crawled back onto the boat and Mike nearly wet his pants. I kept my wits about me and got the camera and we have this picture of the horrible and deadly beast with the fish it took from the jaws of this gator. Just as fast the beast started his boat and left the cove, sunlight and warmth was immediatly upon us and there were birds and crickets to be heard. Here is what we saw, maybe some of you Texas Fellas can tell us what this is: Quote

I kept my wits about me and got the camera and we have this picture of the horrible and deadly beast with the fish it took from the jaws of this gator. Just as fast the beast started his boat and left the cove, sunlight and warmth was immediatly upon us and there were birds and crickets to be heard. Here is what we saw, maybe some of you Texas Fellas can tell us what this is: You know I saw that thing too....scared me so bad I just never could talk about it....how ugly can something get.....If I were a mod I'd ban it for life! Super User fourbizz Posted October 31, 2008 Super User Posted October 31, 2008 I thought I saw a ghost once, turned out to be Santa. I have seen some stuff in the sky that is completely unexplainable to me. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted October 31, 2008 Super User Posted October 31, 2008 In the mid-eighties, I was an hour away at a "record store" with a friend who was looking for a specific album. As I was browsing, I found an album that was titled The Dead Milkmen or the name of the group was The Dead Milkmen, I don't remember. Upon returning home to my friends house I had a message waiting for me to call home immediately. When I did, I was told that I needed to get back and finish the milk route, because my milktruck driver had been crushed and killed between the truck and milkhouse. Don't know if it fits this category, but it definately gave me pause for thought. BTW, we did the math and found that between Joe getting killed and me finding that album, both occurred within about 5-10 minutes of each other. Quote
