GitRDoneIke23 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Well the other day I was offerd a postion as Crew Cheif for a Lawn & Landscaping company. I just got my wisdom teeth yanked (on Monday) so tomorrow I'll call the guy to set a date to discuss the details (wages, hours, locations etc.) It'd be really nice If it all worked out, 'cause in the winter I have VERY LITTLE business!! When I first talked to the guy he seemed like he REALLY wanted to hire me. It'd be a year round job. He also said, he's been having problems with his lawn crew (dishonest/lazy workers, etc.) So I told him I knew a bunch of guys that work hard, so If all goes well I'll be having my buddies workin with me! Here's their website http://www.redoakservicestx.com/2041324.html This job seems like what I've been waiting for!! I just hope it all works out. I'm not worried about not getting it, the guy WANTS to hire me, I just have to make sure It'll fit in withh my schedule and all that. If ya'll could keep me in ya'lls prayers I'd sure appreciate it! Thank's -Ike Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 28, 2008 Super User Posted October 28, 2008 Good luck. It won't interfer with your school schedule will it ? Quote
Bassboss Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Well good luck getting the job. And from what my pa says about lawn maintenance, it's fun the first month or so than it's just a pain in you know what. Lets hope it's different with you, you said it's the kind of job you have been waiting for, so chances are it will! I feel for you when it comes to the teeth. I remember when I had 6 teeth pulled, 4 wisdom, and 2 extra, none of them had come though yet, I also got them pulled with numbing only, no happy gas or anesthesia, just numbing, and 18 stitches for a month and a half! I've been doing that kind of work for about 3 years now. I enjoy it. There's nothing I like better than working outdoors. I'm hoping I'll still be able to haul hay and do tractor work. I'd like 1 day a week for that. As for teeth. I don't know what they gave me, but I felt high or drunk or somehting when I woke up!! IT was INSANE!!! I couldn't imagine doing ti with only numbing. As for school............I'm homeschooled, so I can make-up on weekends, and at night. Plus I'm a senior, so I'll be done with High Shcool pretty soon. I'll just see how it goes. -Ike Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 29, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 29, 2008 Hey Ike, that's really outstanding! The fact that he's willing to talk to you about personnel issues shows that he recognizes your abilities as a leader. WELL DONE! I looked at the web page you linked to, they spelled vegitation wrong and "walk through" should be "walk-through". And on the front page, "No job is to big or to small" should be "No job is too big or too small" along with a few minor grammar issues. I didn't look any further than that. Why am I telling you this? Because if you can show him ways to improve the company outside of the job he's offering you, you're golden. Look through the rest of the site and copyedit it for grammar and spelling errors. As for wisdom teeth, had all 4 of mine removed at once. I was numbed up and had valium - they didn't knock me out, so I was awake the whole time. But I didn't care! LOL! Quote

That's what they did to me except I also had laughing gas, and I have to say it was kind of fun ;D Anyway, good luck with the job, you'd be surprised how far you can get just by working hard. Quote
Red Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 good luck, i love mowin the lawn!! as for the teeth...had one out when i was 19, then in the army i had the other three pulled, cept the idiot army doctor decided it would be ok if he just yanked one of my regular molars instead of one of the wisdom teeth, so i still have one, which didnt ever bother me cuz it had plenty of room to grow in after he pulled one of my REGULAR MOLARS!!! Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 30, 2008 Super User Posted October 30, 2008 Me and a few of my friends had a lawn care service in the summer a few years ago. I also did a little work with a local nursery/lawn care service. I made more money working for myself than with a "real" job. The only bad thing about it was it was summer only job. It's great that you can work year around. Good Luck. Quote

I could make more by myself in the summer but I still need $$$ in the winter, so this would be a good way to get year round business. Glenn: Good idea! I'll go through the rest of the site and make sure of any more typos. Thank's for the idea! I have a "interview" schedlued for 8am on Friday. I hope it all works out! -Ike Quote
