I really can't remember if I gave ya'll the latest Git R Done Jeep update or not so here it is.............

If ya'll remeber I figured out my Master & Slave cylinders for the clutch went out.

I replaced the Master Cylinder, no problem, but when the Slave came in, I thought it looked a bit funny lookin. So I got out the manual and discoverd the Slave cylinder is actually inside the Transmission.

Now, I could, drop it and replace it, but I'd need a few days at my buddies house, and his tools, etc. and it'd be a real pain in the butt!!

So I decided to take it in. While they were under there they said the whole clutch assembly was going out (and seeing how the jeep is 20 years old, I belive them.) they also said It'll end up costing between $900 & $1200!!

Anyways, I should be getting it back before the end of the week.

I also got some Bosch spark plugs          http://www.boschautoparts.com/Products/SparkPlugs/Platinum4.htm

And some KC Daylighters   http://www.kchilites.com/store/Daylighter-C13.aspx?UserID=3737638&SessionID=xrvtBfNAgRSwfsAvVCup

I should be getting the Daylighters in this week too. Along with my customized Tags.

Oh, and I'll be needing to pay insurance too.

Oh, and I blew out 3 of my 4 speakers the other day. oops!!

Them bills keep on piling up!!

We mechanics have an old saying:

"If it's got boobs or wheels it will give you nothing but trouble" ;D

Take it from me, make sure they have the flywheel "cut" (slang for surface grinding) as part of the job. Insist on it, it's critical. You'll have nothing but trouble with the new clutch (chattering, decreased life, etc.) if it's not done.

One last thing to consider- Try only using the clutch for first and reverse gears. You can shift without a clutch from second on up, you just need to let off the accelerator and ease the shifter into the next gear. It can learned fairly easy.( Downshifting without the clutch is a little trickier) I had a Toyota truck for fifteen years that never had a clutch problem.

Anyhow , good luck with the jeep when you get it back.

Good luck.I wish I could granny shift my car. I shift about 30-40 times on the way to work. But the good thing the clutch is real light and only have to tap the clutch. Also to keep the clutch in good shape. Do not pop the clutch. I have heard that if A clutch can out live a car if driven right. Check out clutchnet.com they have great deals on upgraded street to all racing clutchs. Also if your going to up grade the plugs get better wires. Becasue you wont get any were with out bigger wires. Do your home work on spark plug wires. I was going to buy some then I found a site that was talking about them. They test all of them and for a little more I can get better wires with less resistance which is good. So rember all wires are not equal.

Are you on any of the Jeep forums either local or national?  And with your Jeep being 20 yrs old Im guessing a YJ?  If youre not on any of the forums or in clubs you should look in to it as with a little help from some of those guys you could probably knock out the job in a day.  The great thing is most of them only ask for beer or pizza in return for the help.
