prodigy1290 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Been going out the last four days and have had no luck. I throw a frog 50% of the time and have missed a few fish. Ive thrown out fat ikas too, also a jig w/ a trailer on it w/ beads. The lake i fish has some spots that have heavy vegetation and also some spots where there is none. Where would you fish and what would you throw. I usually go out from 8-midnight. Thanks. Quote
warmer Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 where are you from? how big is the lake? how deep is the lake? what is the bottom like? sandy/soft what kind of veg are you fishing? Quote
Willzx225 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I would throw a black buzzbait and fish it as slow as you can. A little tip to get it to stay on the surface at slower speeds is to add more cup to the buzzbait blade. Make sure you keep it fairly even from one side to the other or it will not operate smoothly. spotaholic Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Junebug Ol Monster T-rig. I have alot of success with this bait. Quote

I find that the bite drops off right at dark and doesn't pick up for a few hours. I would try fishing from 10-2. If you are fishing anything deeper than 10ft, then I would not concentrate on topwaters. They will certainly catch fish but a big black colorado blade spinner will out catch a topwater 3 to 1. Let it sink to the bottom then slow roll it back to the boat. The bait that has put more big fish in the boat for me is a TX rigged 10" Tequila Sunrise Power Worm. These are unbeatable in stumps and timber. What is your lake like? Color, depth, structure? Quote
prodigy1290 Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 where are you from?how big is the lake? California how deep is the lake? djmax22 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 10" power worm in Red Shad, Tequilla Sunrise or Black Fleck. This is my main summer pattern at night for quality fish. Quote
calandra Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 10[ch8221] worms in dark colors such as Black Black Spinnerbaits If you can find them anymore, I have had great success with Norman's Big [ch8211] N or Shakespeare[ch8217]s Big- S Crankbaits at night. Like the Big- O but bigger. Devils Horse Buzz Baits Bigger baits, dark colors. Quote
PooNug Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Nighttime fishing in some ways can be easier than daytime fishing. When it's dark the fish are less likely to see the flaws in your presentation. Night fishing is less about presentation and more about catching the fish's attention. This means putting lots of action on the rod and using dark colors. I go for the black worm with a hook-tail.
