We will be working a job in Brooklyn next week (at the Tamaqua Marina) We are staying at the Comfort Inn on Emmons Ave, right off of Knapp St. Any good eats reasonably close by ?? Italian, good deli, etc.- we aint picky.

P.S. The motel parking lot is right next to the water. Will bring a rod to see whats up in the bay. When we were there two weeks ago, the snapper blues were THICK in the water !! What else is swimming around this time of year ?

Elaine , my girlfriend lives a few blocks from there!

Eats: Coney Island: less than 15 minutes away THE ORIGINAL NATHANS; go get a dog, and a kinish! Walk the boardwalk, it will not look like that next year ASTROLAND is coming down for condos

Also if the Cyclone is open A great wooden roller coster is open for the weekend, TAKE A RIDE!

Also in Coney Island : Tutonos : Brick oven baked pizza, with fresh mozzerella, basil tomaotes and garlic; You have to buy a whole pie It is well worth it

Sheepshead Bay; Jordans Lobster Dock off Emmons Ave, about 10 blocks from where you are working.

Brennans and Carrs: Nostand and U; Roast beef sandwhichs like you have never had

The better Italian food is in my old neighborhood South Broolyn PM me I will give you my phone # if you want to travel about 1/2 hour each way.

BESONHURST: 6 exits on the Belt Parkway: If you go anywhere this would be it 15min away

SPUMONI GARDENS; Great Pizza.macaroni , Hero sanwdhiches and home made Spumoni

here is a link for Spumoni Gardens

Fishing: If you go the few blocks to Emmons Ave make a right off Knapp( main street where you are working) go to STELLA MARRIS MARINA 2702 Emmons ave, they have bait and will tell you whats up. Probablly some cocktail blues right there in the bay off the docks, Or you can fish off the seawall off the Belt Parkway after you go to Spumoni Gardens Blues and Strippers still running, It is by the Verrazano Bridge where the Hudson spills into the Atlantic Ocean You need stout rods as the tides are strong. If you fish make sure the tide is either going in or out, slack tides usually are pointless to fish PM ME 8-)

Thanks a ton, Muddy. I think the two places in Sheepshead Bay (Jordan's & Brennans and Carrs) will be just the ticket. Our commercial work trucks are prohibited on the Belt Parkway, makes traveling around a little difficult & parking a hassle. We cut down 65th st. to ave P to get were we are going. We wont have time to see Coney Island, we work 10-11 hour days. Leaves enough time to shower and eat and maybe a little night fishing (Let's see....no shower and no meals = more fishing ;D) Will post when I get home to let you know how we did. Thanks again, Muddy.

LBH- I'll take that advice. I hope I don't fall in, they'll eat me

If you take 65th street the other way  to the dock the VZ bridge and the strippers are right there!

Yea Thanks ATX they sell them on 7th ave in a t shirt store and nic-knack place called Litttle Things

Other products they have are shirts from one guy that has the following

(need to know in South Brooklyn there is the Gowanus Canal, which until the Yuppies put town houses and boat slips on it was a gurgelling polluted mess we called it LAVANDER LAKE , growing up

Tshirts:

LAVANADER LAKE YATCH CLUB (front) , Now all we need is a %#$^*ing boat(back)

Welcome to south Brooklyn ( front)> Now go back where you came from(back)

Brooklyn( front) Where the weak are hunted and eaten(back)

Austin is also having a deluge of yuppies.  I got into a fight on a corner with a self-proclaimed gypsy because I'm not from Austin.  I saw a shirt like that one that said:

"Welcome to Austin, Don't forget to Leave"
