Super User Root beer Posted October 20, 2008 Super User Posted October 20, 2008 HAHAH WOW!! If I was an offense line for south carolina..on the very next play I would've nailed that ref. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted October 20, 2008 Super User Posted October 20, 2008 what the h*! it looked like he went straight for him Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 20, 2008 Super User Posted October 20, 2008 I always had thoughts that LSU brought their own refs to the games. Now I have proof. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 20, 2008 Super User Posted October 20, 2008 And everyone says that the SEC is the toughest conference in football. He just got took out by a ref! Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 20, 2008 Super User Posted October 20, 2008 Now show how that same Umpire the series before did a pick on an LSU defense back allowing Carolina to score. Oh what no one shows that one? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 21, 2008 Super User Posted October 21, 2008 That was just a good route being run by the South Carolina player, and that happens alot in football, but on the other side, how many times do you see a ref stick that shoulder out to knock someone down? Sure haven't been alot of SEC threads lately? Hookem Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 21, 2008 Super User Posted October 21, 2008 So you didn't see the umpire step in front of the defender much like he stepped into Garcia? Yea go ahead Horns talk for now but there are still 4 SEC teams in the BCS top 25 & y'all will probably play 1 for the title Quote

Yea go ahead Horns talk for now but there are still 4 SEC teams in the BCS top 25 & y'all will probably play 1 for the title ...and there is 4 BigXII teams in the TOP 10. 6 in the top 25. 8-) Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 21, 2008 Super User Posted October 21, 2008 Yes! The ref played linebacker at Kentucky and he just could not help himself. Great play. LSU needs to make sure the ref is on the field in Tiger Stadium when Nickie Satan and the Bama boys come to town in November. ;D Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 21, 2008 Super User Posted October 21, 2008 Yes! The ref played linebacker at Kentucky and he just could not help himself. Great play. ;D So, you're saying he had the SEC version of a 'Nam flashback? Quote

Super User Catt Posted October 21, 2008 Super User Posted October 21, 2008 Check out Les Miles response http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?categoryId=2564308&brand=null&videoId=3655047&n8pe6c=1 Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 21, 2008 Super User Posted October 21, 2008 but on the other side, how many times do you see a ref stick that shoulder out to knock someone down? ....not to mention leaving his feet to do it and finishing with a forearm Quote
Super User Dan: Posted October 22, 2008 Super User Posted October 22, 2008 they showed a clip on tv this morning on ESPN from a different angle that shows what the ref was probably trying to do. There was a lane between pursuing tacklers and the quarterback to the QB's right, the ref apparently tried to jump laterally into that lane at the same time the QB cut inward to avoid him, then the ref just stuck up his arm to protect himself. The whole jumping and sticking the arm out made it really look bad though, but if you see it from the other angle it makes a lot more sense. Quote
atx_newbie Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I agree with the SEC report there, no fault to be found. That kind of stuff just happens with referees. In my soccer games it's about once a game that a referee will get caught in the middle of the play and intercept and perfectly placed pass or set a perfect pick on a runner. I do like Les Miles's response though "After you make contact, you gotta wrap him up... I really expected better..." Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 22, 2008 Super User Posted October 22, 2008 Catt, You know how I feel about young QB's. LSU's day to shine will come with experience. As for my Horns, they have more wins than I was counting on at this time. And its a long way to go. You know what happens when you drink your own teams Kool-aid, you end up with big let down. By the way, never actually thought the ref did that on purpose. Ya'll hookem. Quote
