Josh. Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Hey guy's, who's ready for the NHL season? I know I am! GO CANES!!! ;D Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I used to be really into it but when they quit showing it on the major sports networks I quit following. I liked the Predators and the Red Wings Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 27, 2008 Super User Posted September 27, 2008 I love hockey, but I cannot stand how it has become more of a finesse game. The ref's need to put the whistles away and let them grind it out. Sick of all of this "obstruction" garbage. Quote
CRFisher Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Bettman pretty much ruined the NHL. I haven't really watched since 1994. Bad rules, changed rules, overzealous expansion and missed opportunities. Will probably give the Bruins a chance when they change ownership. Won't until then, greediest owner in sports. Quote
jax Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Hockey is still a sport? :-? Is that the game where you see who can spit the farthest? I haven't watched hockey in years. Sports Center is about the only time I even see it mentioned anymore. I can't even remember that last time I watched a hockey game. But I live in Southern Indiana. Hockey isn't big at all around here. It doesn't stay cold long enough. We are basketball college country around here. They quit showing hockey around here when they stopped letting them fight and rough house as much. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 28, 2008 Super User Posted September 28, 2008 May catch a game or two on TV. Still like the Flyers. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 28, 2008 Super User Posted September 28, 2008 In response to jax: Ice hockey is very under-rated. Most kids can get into a football, baseball or basketball game just by walking down to the corner park. Thats when/where the bonds with those sports are formed. If one kid has a football, the whole neghborhood can play. Same with basketball, one kid brings a ball to the park (which you know has a goal), everybody who shows up gets to play. Its not like that with ice hockey. A kid just cant walk down the street and fall into a hockey game. I was lucky enough as a kid to have an ice rink around in the winter that we could play on. (ECHL teams played here in town) We had a good youth hockey organization and I was able to play in organized rec leagues for 12 years. I love hockey. Go Rangers!! Quote

Hockey is a sport, and one that very few can play because there not good enough. I started playing when I was 5, and still play to this day. Can't wait till the season starts! Go Bruins! Quote
Josh. Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 Sorry bud but the canes beat the flyers today i was there ;D May catch a game or two on TV. Still like the Flyers. Quote
jax Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I was just kidding on the is hockey still a sport comment. : I used to watch hockey until they quit showing it in our area. Asking if hockey is still a sport is just a common response in warmer climates. We find it funny around here. No offense was intended. Quote
