Super User Muddy Posted September 18, 2008 Super User Posted September 18, 2008 Hang in there, you are in my prayers. Grateful no one was hurt Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 18, 2008 Super User Posted September 18, 2008 Wow! You built one heck of a house to withstand a direct hit. Quote
done Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I am GLAD to hear you guys are unhurt! Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted September 18, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 18, 2008 As a general rule everyone has been very civil for the most part. You have the exceptions though. Pasadena PD had to shoot and kill a fellow that carried a knife into a store to try to get gas on Monday. We are under a curfew, but you still have the certain elements out there trying to stir up trouble. Problems in the gas lines are occuring more and more as the days go by. Just a lot of frustration. I have not had any problems myself, but you make a wrong turn and get into an area and you can have problems quick. Quote
done Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 So no trouble at night with looters or such yet? I always wondered with all that destruction how the cops would have any chance of catching someone out after curfew. I mean if they were trying to hide and not walking down the middle of the street. That does not sound like a fun situation by any means. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted September 18, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 18, 2008 Wow! You built one heck of a house to withstand a direct hit. Just the luck of the draw. Several homes less than 100 yards from me are gone from the top of the bricks up. I have an engineer coming to do a structural assement on my home tommorrow. That will tell the tale. I wanted that report before the adjuster gets here. Quote

I always wondered with all that destruction how the cops would have any chance of catching someone out after curfew. I mean if they were trying to hide and not walking down the middle of the street. That does not sound like a fun situation by any means. There have been scattered reports and arrest of a few for looting. Not many though. I think they said they arrested 11 Saturday night for it. That's not bad for a town with millions of people. Also, some of the smaller outlying towns are imposing a $2,000.00 fine if you are caught out after curfew. That stops a lot of it. Quote
basser89 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Unbelievable! I'm glad you and your family are ok! Can't even imagine what that would have been like! Quote
Uncle Leo Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Sorry to hear about the damage but the main thing is your safe. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted September 18, 2008 Super User Posted September 18, 2008 Thankfully, you and your wife are safe. All else can be replaced. Very good idea to have an engineer come out to assess the damage. Good luck, Falcon Quote
