RiskKid. Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Again, as a fan, who wouldn't want the best to play the best during the season. To be the best, play the best, it leaves no doubt! Hey Matt, Here's my personal 2 cents.....My Vols play 5 big time games this year (UCLA, FL, Auburn, GA, AL) as respects AL I don't care how up or down the Tide or the Vols are this one is always big time, 2 tough ones (MS State, SC) 5 easier ones (UAB, No Ill, WY, KY and Vandy) KY and Vandy always get up for us big time so we have to be careful, nothing good can come of those games for us...Plus hopefully a bowl game Sooo, thats about all this 56 year old heart can handle....any more would surely kill me.... NOW....let's go back to arguing! : Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 28, 2008 Super User Posted August 28, 2008 If USC plays LSU in 2003 they loose period and in 2004 if USC plays Auburn they loose again. Everyone sings the praises of USC & OSU who are paper hero's; they play no body all year and then say look at us we are the greatest. Heisman trophies have nothing to do with athleticism because if it did defensive players could win. Look at both of USCs Heisman trophies winners in the Pros they are all but no shows. Look at Matt Leinart on draft day he dropped like a rock why? Because Pro scouts knew he was a paper hero. And I still haven't heard how OSU explains 0-9 vs the SEC or how OSU gets blown out in back to back championships by the SEC. The SEC may not be dominating top to bottom but overall the put any other conference to shame. You have Florida, Georgia, LSU, Auburn & Tennessee in the top 25 with Alabama & South Carolina at 25 & 26. That's 7 out of 12 SEC teams on top; now you name a conference that comes close. I'll take it farther if any SEC team is in the BCS championship game they win; y'all can write that one down. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 28, 2008 Super User Posted August 28, 2008 Talk is cheap Catt. Football is decided on the field. We want ever know the outcome of those games. They weren't played. Top 5 all time college football rivalries. #1 watched OSU vs Michigan #2 Neb and Oklahoma #3 USC vs Notre Dame #4 Texas vs Texas aTm #5 Alabama vs Auburn Say what you want, but these are from years of ratings, and the people watch these games every year as per the annual ratings. Alabama and Auburn are #5, Some how the top teams keep appearing. USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, OSU, Texas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Seems to me, the premier programs are the very same in the top 10 wins of all time. and amoung top rivals watched every year. Those are facts that stretch back for decades and decades. Where is Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, Miss. State, LSU and Arkansas on these lists? Where does LSU Florida game rank in rivalries in the public eyes? TV raitings and all time wins seem to say different than opinions.. Quote

RiskKid. Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Sure would be nice if they trashed the BCS and had a playoff......what a concept to determine a champion on the field.....but then again we wouldn't be able to have these discussions. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted August 28, 2008 Super User Posted August 28, 2008 I don't think anybody is arguing that the SEC is bad. It's just cyclical like has been said many times in this post. And right now .... yes ... SEC is probably the top dog from top to bottom. Quote
