preach4bass Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Overall, the US hasn't preformed as well as they normally do in the Olympics. But, BOTH the men and women dropping their batons in the 4x100m relay shows that they've been just plain slack. This is a Jr. High School track mistake that is solved by practice. Their coach ought to be banned by the USOC. > Oh well, maybe we'll wipe up in the 400!!! Go USA!!! Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted August 22, 2008 Super User Posted August 22, 2008 No kidding. Unfreakinbelievable!!! > :( At least the 400 was a sweep. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Real shame about the relay teams, all that speed and they just could not pass the baton. Their heads were just not in the game. Quote
guitarkid Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 The whole track and field team is a joke. What ever happened to the greats like Michael Johnson? -tumnus Quote

SuskyDude Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 The whole track and field team is a joke. Thats OUR atheletes giving it all they got. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 The whole track and field team is a joke. What ever happened to the greats like Michael Johnson? -tumnus He's working for the BBC :-? I saw that the other day. Don't we have a commentator from Trinidad-Tobago or somewhere? I know he has an accent. You'd think NBC could antie up and get an American former track star! Maybe our tracksters need to take a lesson from our gymnists or swimmers? Quote

I think preach was referring to the overall track team performance? It depends on your measure of success. If your all about gold medals, we've fallen short of the mark. Darn, those Chinese!! Quote
Troutfisher Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Could have been, if there's a misunderstanding, I apologize. Just pointing out the performance of the whole. 8-) Quote
preach4bass Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 Troutfisher, Yes, I was referring specifically to the US Track and Field Team not preforming well. SuskyDude, The whole point of this thread is that our atheletes HAVEN'T given it all they got. It was started in lieu of both our men's and women's 4x100m relay teams dropping the baton. Passing the baton has nothing to do with natural talent and everything to do with practice. If the coach would have simply had them practice their handoffs a couple dozen times the US would probably have two more metals not. Not taking the time to practice the baton pass is simply NOT giving it your all. Very disappointing. Quote
guitarkid Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I do not work for BBC nor am I going to run in the olympics, What I am trying to say is that I think they dropped the ball a little bit, I feel they could have done at least a little better. -tumnus Quote
preach4bass Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 I think they dropped the ball No they didn't. They dropped the baton. Quote
