 OK,

The 3rd oldest (21) has been dating a pretty nice guy for around 8 months(?). He seems like a good young man. We don't know him well but on the occasions we've met he has been a class act. He's an accountant studying for a masters while working for Caterpillar.

We are just an average blue collar 'ish familynot global jetsetters Out of the blue the other day he asks my daughter if she has a passport!

I'm thinking why would he ask that?

My guess is a vacation.

Yeah, you might want to start putting a little extra in that fund FFI!  ;D

Maybe he thinks she's a spy?

You're the papa , ask him what he's intentions are.

I like that idea....If he says it's something special, proposal is probably coming. If he says just to get out and have fun then it's just a trip to get out and unwind.

I wish the girls i dated took me somewhere... ;D

I say beat his ARS if he asks here to marry him before getting permission from you. Or at least advising you first.

This just in.. I didn't think I'd find out so soon but it is a trip to Mexico! Possibly on New Years. Whewww!. I'm glad because they really haven't known each other long enough to be going the serious route.

Good thing too as there is not nearly enough in the wedding fund Maltese. Plus this is the youngest of the 3 in the pecking order of marriage ( all females arrrghhh!). Two others are 26 & 22    & 2 x 9

Bassn amd Fishin funny stuff. I'm not sure that all that formal stuff still applies but I think this kid probably would.

Thanks everyone for the input

I asked my future father-in-law and was told that of his three daughters who were ever engaged, I was the only one who had asked for his permission.

I know it is good form to ask, even if not necessary.

Guess who the favorite kid-in-law is now?  Yeah boy!!!   ;)

You know, come to think of it. . . I never asked my wife's dad (really her step-dad) for her hand.  I can't remember why I didn't, perhaps that we dated for three years and I figured they expected us to get married anyway.  We get along fine though because I fish and he fishes.  My wife's little sister (14 years younger) just got married to a "pretty boy" in Fla this weekend.  They "had" to get married (baby on the way in 7 months).  I guess I'm still the #1 son-in-law, considering the circumstances!!  ;D
