Yep.  Confirmed.

I have been doing research and think I know how to proceed, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience.

thanks,

Ruger 10/22 will solve your problem.  j/k. :)

We had a similar problem in my parents house when I was younger, and my dad ended up borrowing  a trap and trapping the animal.

A wacky rigged unsalted peanut in the hull with a 4/0 hook, 65# braid, on medium heavy tackle with a tight drag setting. Use a skipping presentation. Wait 5 seconds after the hit to set the hook. The release is a little more difficult than the catch. ;D

edit: I forgot one part, mash the barb down, it will make it easier

       on both of you.

Speaking of squirrels. I was sitting in the parking lot at work yesterday morning and I saw one eating a dead bird.  :o Or maybe trying to revive it using CPR, either way I was a little bugged out. I didn't know squirrels were carnivorous. Maybe it had rabies.

May I suggest getting a small metal trap and use that to catch the animals?

A "Rear Release Box Trap" will do the trick. They cost about $50 each.

I got one from a client and we caught the squirrels and I released both of them at the Pony Pasture, about 3 miles away.

Please, no guns as you will damage the flooring, walls or roof.

No poisions as they will hide and die and really smell bad in the attic.

No big snakes from the Everglades as after they eat the squirrles they will hide and go after your pets.

Good luck and I hope you get rid of them, fast, as they can do a lot of damage in a short period of time.

You'll be lucky if you're able to LIVE trap them. I had no luck with the Hav-a-heart trap and ended up going to Lowe's to buy actual rat traps. The big ones with yellow bait pad worked well with peanut butter (just a peanut size chuck).

I ended up taking out 13 in the attic. Somehow the previous owners forgot to tell me they had a squirrel problem.  ::)

Live trap, feed it acorns for a week, then a pressure cooker.

Combine with a pan of biscuits and you've got a fine meal.

Actual squirels in the actual attic, or a mental health condition?

I just about fell out of my chair when I read this response.

set out some bait (bird seed)

Set up a blind. (a few towels hung from something)

Squirrels tend to feed mostly in the mid morning and late afternoon.

Stake out with a high powered BB/pellet gun.

And remember, squirrel meat is very good tasting. Dont waste it if you do kill one.

Get a trap and use peanuts as bait, it works well I had a similar problem and trapped them, released them and sealed up the entry point.  I have not had any problems since.

Well thank y'all for the creative replies.  WayneP... gotta hand it to you buddy, that was a LOL hoot.

I bought a havahart trap, but if it don't work then it's the rat trap fer sure.  gotta git them critters outta there.

I have killed and eaten squirrels.  They are tasty, but these are educated suburban squirrels.  I think they have lawyers.
