Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 Zel did you type all of that. Nope, too lazy....

Zel Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Zel did you type all of that. Nope, too lazy.... Couldn't have said it any better myself. ;D I cut and paste from the results of my own internet search engine invention... I call it CRUISE Conclusive Resource for Useless Information Search Engine. :
fish-fighting-illini Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Mike, I think it can be more complicated than that. Just because I or someone else makes mistakes I don't perceive it as a big deal. That being said though if someone writes terrible then it is very cumbersome to read. I imagine some look at it as "time is money" or "time is too precious to waste". These could be perceived as "lazy" when in fact a value choice. Sometimes I have better things to do than take the time to expertly proof-read a post on a fishing related website or a "just for the heck of" it e-mail. I don't perceive this site as writing the constitution for instance. I taylor my thouroughness to the importance of the medium / occasion. Life is all about different strokes for different folks. If we were all created equal we'd all be cloned and all be rocket scientists. No offense meant you have a very valid point and thought provoking (sp?) question in general. Just my .02 right or wrong FFI - AKA Matt Crum
Super User Root beer Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 If your tired of reading improper grammar, then go read a book instead of browsing a bass fishing forum.
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 If your tired of reading improper grammar, then go read a book instead of browsing a bass fishing forum. LOL!!! Are you serious? You have been butchering the English language since you started posting... BTW, I highlighted something for you there buddy. :-X
fish-fighting-illini Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Hey Speed he does have a point ( see my long drawn out post ) to each his own FFI AKA Matt Crum
Chad. Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 me failer teh engrish that unpossible. Seriously, I know my grammar is bad at times, but some people make posts that are extremely hard to read it's abuse to the English language.
Avalonjohn44 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 If your tired of reading improper grammar, then go read a book instead of browsing a bass fishing forum. Write! Grammar and book learnin' has know place hear! They should take there language rulez and reed sum book somewheres else. LOL!!! Are you serious? You have been butchering the English language since you started posting... BTW, I highlighted something for you there buddy. LMAO!
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 Hey Speed he does have a point ( see my long drawn out post ) to each his own FFI AKA Matt Crum Honestly, I am not talking about the occasional typo. I realize that (from your post) time is money to some people. That may be true. Think about this....If "time" is so fleeting and limited in someone's life, shouldnt that time be designated to a more important activity? I laugh when I hear school age people on here say, "I only use this language when I am on a forum." BULL!!! Look at Russ' post; ask his sister (a teacher). When poor grammar is so widely used and commonly accepted by a majority of people, its inevitable that it will become the "norm." I refuse to accept that....

Masshole Mike Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 It seems in this thread alone most of it can be attributed to the latter. At least from the last few posts... I know that I'm usually pretty lazy when it comes to typing, which is why a lot of my posts are all lower case, however my grammar and punctuation are impeccable. Hooked on Phonics worked for me!
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 This thread is losing some of the fun factor.
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 This thread is losing some of the fun factor. I am having a great time. I will play nice.

Wayne, very well put and yet another point of view Speed maybe that in itself is a topic of debate. Food for thought ...I feel as though I can turn it off or on as needed but maybe today's youngsters cannot????? re: "shouldnt that time be designated to a more important activity?" maybe this is expert time management on their part? that is how they fit the activity in? just being objective for me this site is about sharing ideas and having some fun. it is not imperative to me to be grammaticaly correct. I don't take it that serious its not that important to me. That's just me to each his own as they say Very classy / great reply back to me I've seen enough of your posts to have expected that FFI- AKA Matt Crum
Masshole Mike Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I'd like to pose the question of what's worse, all caps or all lower case? Grammar and punctuation aside. I'd rather see a post in all lower case. All caps makes me wonder if the person typing it is really angry at the time.
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 Matt, thanks. Same back at you. Mike, internetiquette typically would suggest that CAPS is considered yelling unless somehow explained otherwise by the poster. All lower case lettering, as far as I know, doesnt signal anything other than indifference toward capitalization in a sentence. I am not so sure one is preferable over the other, but there is more of a negative stigma associated with all caps. If I have to choose, I guess I would rather talk to a lazy person than someone who is yelling at me

Aaron Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I usually try to use proper grammar, but I have made many posts where I have looked at them afterword and been very upset at what I just typed. Most of the time I let it go, but if it is bad I will usually edit my post. The importance I place on grammar depends on the medium. When posting on forums I want the message to be easily read, so spelling and grammar isn't that important to me as long as the message is clear. If I am sending an office email I will usually give it a quick once over before sending it, but if I am typing reports or submitting something to a superior I want it to be near perfect. The things that really get to me are ALL CAPS and excessive puncuation!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's doesn't bother me as much in forums but I have seen people send out memos with lines of exclamation points or question marks.
Super User Muddy Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 Man it's been a while think I will put on some and wait for Kent and his Girlfriend Irene to get here Hope I misspelled at least one word in there ;D
dave Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 This thread is losing some of the fun factor. Kent, in all of the thread on this topic, none have ever been fun. Sad yes, fun no. Good Night.......
frogtog Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I'm 54 and just got my Speak & Spell for Christmas this year. I have been real proud of myself lately, I have gone from using one finger to using two fingers typing.
Super User burleytog Posted July 30, 2008 Super User Posted July 30, 2008 as you can see from the first couple of posts that the ignorant will be ignorant. Your sarcasm detector is obviously broken.
