Super User burleytog Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 Boy, could they have brought a worse tire to the track? Perhaps the most boring race I've ever seen. And that includes every race I've ever watched at Charlotte and Michigan. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 How about Goodfortenlaps Quote
J_Zink Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 First Michelin screwed up the tires at the USGP F1 race at Indy a couple years ago resulting in a fiasco and now Goodyear with Nascar. One thing that remained constant though, in the F1 race, the Bridgestone tires had no problems, the Indy racing league has also had zero tire issues when running the Firestones in the 500. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 At least everyone is smart enough not to run Hoosiers. Remember them? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 Perhaps the most boring race I've ever seen. This entire race season has been B-O-R-I-N-G! Football is just around the corner. 8-) Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 True dat RW. For the most part, the C.O.T has or something has made racing a bore for the most part to watch this season. Honestly, safety is always first concern. But to add some suspense to this race, they should of waived the last two or threee competion cautions allowing the pit boss to make some stradegy moves. =Matt 5.0= Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 At least they make a decent tire for nitro... Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 Tony Stewart had it right. Man, was that a disaster or what? But my Jimmie Johnson won; Carl and Denny did well; so I was pleased with the final results. Maybe NASCAR needs Japanese tires??? > Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 At least everyone is smart enough not to run Hoosiers. Remember them? We still run Hoosiers at the dirt track. Quote
J_Zink Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 At least everyone is smart enough not to run Hoosiers. Remember them? 1988 Nine NASCAR Winston Cup events won on Hoosier racing tires. 1989 NASCAR Daytona 500 won on Hoosier racing tires. 1994 Re-Entered NASCAR's Winston Cup Circuit, winning 4 races with Geoff Bodine. Hoosier tires were also on the car of pole sitter Rick Mast in the inaugural running of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis. 1994 Decision made to withdraw from Winston Cup circuit due to cost ramifications of race "tire counts" I seem to recall they did pretty good considering their short stint in the sport. =Matt 5.0= Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 For my money, Mickey Thompson and BF.Goodrich make better tires. Just my personal experience on and off the dragstrip. Quote
TheBeast Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 At least everyone is smart enough not to run Hoosiers. Remember them? Actually Hoosiers are still used quite exstensively in the saturday night series' around the country. Quote
