So I am at work mindin my business when I get a call from my brother.  He ask if I have been in any kind of trouble I say no of course.  HE then goes on to tell me that I have a warrant for my arrest!  He reads the letter to me and it goes back to 04 when I was pulled over in my Dads truck for no blinker.  I was on my way to an SMU formal dance, dressed all nice had a date, just tryin to have some fun.  Well the cop says can I search the ride?  I didnt care it was my dads I knew nothing illegal was in there.  Well after the search they found a pistol under the passenger side seat.  The cop flips out!  I go to jail.  I get a lawyer, pay my fine, Im put on probabtion for like 2yrs!  I make it through that didnt get a single ticket.  I thought the whole thing was taken care of but apparently not.  I calle dmy old lawyer, and guess what?  He is MIA.  I owe 800 bucks to the city for some bad paper work it sounds like.

When it rains it pours!  Lost my Grandmother to cancer in march, gilrfriend of four years in january, uncle had a heart attack, friend given weeks to live, and dear friends mother has lung cancer, and Im getting laid off due to cut backs on Aug 30th!

Sometimes I feel like just joining the army or air force or maybe cashin out and moving somewhere far away. But I jsut cant, too many people are depending on me......

Hey Clayton,

Believe it or not the people who work in the court system can be nice.

Most are sort of wound tight but if you talk to them and find out the name of the judge maybe you can get everything straightened out.

Just be polite and nice in your letter and ask the court if they can help you.

They may say no, but at least you tried.

If there is a law school around maybe one of the law students will help you. Check with any law schools in your area and see if they can help.

You need to get this cleared up if you will be seeking a career change ad to get it off of your record.

Good luck.  :)

Clayton, you need to move fast on this. Dallas City Marshall, county constables and the Sheriff are in a "round up the people with oustanding warrants" mode right now. They're trying to make up for all the budget shortfalls in the area.

Thanks guys I am working on this as we speak.  I do have some connections to try and get this fixed up.  I am looking for some Karma though, I gave a homeless guy 10 bucks a while back

I gave a homeless guy 10 bucks a while back

A couple of years ago, I was turning onto the on ramp to the interstate and there were two what looked to be homeless guys holding up a sign that said "Need money for beer". I gave 'em $10 because I figured they were the only honest ones out there. :)

Try to stay positive man. From my experience getting down to far and feeling negative just makes things work. Sometimes just a positive attitude will make some things turn around.

Treat yourself to a nice afternoon fishing. You deserve it.

Don't worry about it.  Good people will always get taken care of.  I'm sure you have plenty of people to help you and lean on, but I'm close if you ever need to call someone to vent or have a beer with.  You'll have to come to Fort Worth though I hate Dallas ;).

I don't know how you got 2 yrs probation if the gun wasn't yours and you borrowed the truck not knowing it was there..  Sounds to me your lawyer really sucked.

Wait a minute, you mean you got caught with your dad's gun and your dad didn't stick up for you?Kinda shocked you got the book thrown at you for it.

Something smells fishy as heck seeing this happened to me and a friend...and we calmly explained it was his dad's and we knew nothing about it.The cop even called his dad and his dad verified it was in fact his and we were not in any knowing knowledge of the gun.All they did was took the gun and made the father come to the police department to pick it up. You musta got busted by one heck of an "butthead" cop.

You should have been able to get out of that situation real quickly.

Your story sounds fishy to me.  Why would it be ok for your friends dad to have a firearm in the vehicle, but I crime for you to have one.

Because he has a permit to have one.He left it in the car his son borrowed.Either way all we did was explained to the cops and all they did was take it and let us go.Neither one of us knew it was there.

Rather his dad got fined for it or not i don't know....His dad however admitted to the cops it was his.Which should have been in clayton's situation as well.

I guess we got an understanding cop. However we could have gotten taken down to the station where our parents would have had to pick us up...Guess we got lucky.

no warrent = no search

exactly

If you have nothing to hide, whats the big deal?

Keep your head up dude.  We are tested all the time to see what we're made of and to ultimately prepare us to appreciate the good things to come.

Sorry about all your recent troubles, a good person to talk to might be a prosecutor for that municipalities court. A phone call may yield better results than a visit in person depending on how busy that court is. If it were me, I would explain how the situation happened and ask if there is anything THEY can do to help you. IMHO, Don't explain why it's not your fault because everyone does that.

This is all good stuff guys and I appreciate the support.

I did get a real ***** of a cop that night, he didnt want to listen at all.  Back home everyone carries a gun, maybe two or three.  But when you get into the city its another story, and I can understand that.  But this guy should have used some sort of "reasoning".  It doesn't take much to figure out if a guy has his head on straight and is not a criminal if you ask me.

And the whole no warrant= no search thing, well I had nothing to hide so I said sure search it.  I thought he was wasting his time and I would be on my way real soon.  I was totally wrong.

I tell you one thing though, after I was charged and handcuffed and things couldnt get much worse I gave that cop an ear full the whole way to the station!  Didnt help and shouldnt have done it but I felt better.
