frogtog Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Every now and then I will get an e-mail stating that if you receive a e-mail say from Joe Blow not to open it and to delete it. It will say it contains a virus. Question: how do you delete a e-mail without opening it ? If you click on it to delete it's going to open. This is about as strange as Burley coming up with Tim Duncan. ;D Quote
Aaron Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I was alaways curious about that as well. But now that the only email I use is hotmail I don't worry about it because I can select an email without opening it. Quote
daviscw Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 With Outlook I'm pretty sure you can right click and other options come up. (Including delete.) With Yahoo, Hotmail, etc., there are usually boxes beside emails that you can click to check, then somewhere in the upper left there will be a delete button. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 17, 2008 Super User Posted July 17, 2008 What is the big deal about Tim Duncan? :-/ Quote
moby bass Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I believe with Outlook that what you see when you go to your inbox and select an email is only a preview. If you right click, you do get options, as stated. You have to double click the message or select "open" and then your message opens in another window. Then you could have issues. Attachments of course require you to open them, which is something you should never do unless you know where its from. I think this is the way in works. I run McAfee and I have had 0 issues, unlike that other well known security provider > Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 17, 2008 Super User Posted July 17, 2008 my email provider has little boxes next to emails that you can click on to select the email and then delte it....just like how you would delete PM's on BR. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 18, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 18, 2008 Change your view in Outlook and remove the preview pane. Then you can click on an e-mail subject line without opening it. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted July 18, 2008 Super User Posted July 18, 2008 outlook is the DEVIL......lol read emails from the server of your internet provider, lots safer that way. Quote
