as long as I am home by the 24th that is just before the Wife's Birthday... :)  so I can plan and get something NICE for her... she has really sacrificed this last 15 months...

I still have a birthday and an anniversary the second of each to go thru... but I am in double digits... WOOO HOOOO... I can't wait till my replacement shows up so I can start training him.

yeah boyyyyyy this is it for this deployment... I should have a full year before I have to deploy again  :o   but I am entering the twilight of my career... 3 1/2 years till I retire and don't have to worry about it at all... now just to get promoted so I can start that 3 year count down for the "top three" for retirement pay...

gonna start the "come fish with AL" list too... anyone in Georgia that wants to come fishing.. just let me know... we will see about getting you on some of these famous Fort Stewart Ponds...

Congrats Al, we are all hoping for your safe return.

I went hunting on Ft. Stewart a couple years ago and I gotta say, they had some impressive pics at Pass and Permit.

We still get a chuckle about the UXO signs on the building....we saw all kinds of cool stuff walking through the woods there  LOL

We take UXO VERY VERY serious ... we lost 2 folks this year due to UXO... very sad because BOTH were avoidable deaths

You stay safe over there, my friend. I'm praying for your safe return!! Watched "Platoon" the other day and it sure brought back some fond memories of the 'Nam. I know when my son was in Iraq for 16 months I was a nervous wreck!

Yeah the last month is ROUGH.  I swear my last iraq deployment went fast...for the first 14months.  That last month seemed to take a friggin year.  So many plans and expectations...it can actually get kind of stressful believe it or not.  I know SFC(P)  (right??) Al knows this already.  He's played this game before lol.

Hopefully you get to stay home for more than a year, though.  I just switched to the Louisiana National Guard for a NICE bonus and 2 years of stability.  I'd like to see you finish out your career in an air conditioned office stateside.  Of course the money sucks, but at least your desk won't explode ;D

You plan on telling the fish in Georgia that your coming back, or are you gonna let 'em figure it out the hard way? 8-)

SHHHHHHHH they have hopefully fully recovered from the assault I gave them when I came home on leave... so when I get home for good they will be more willing to fall for my TTPs  :)

Yeah Brian... I have played this game A LOT... but none the less every time is a new one so you can't underestimate the reintrigation and all that stuff... but I was lucky and go to keep in close contact with them family the whole 15 months... so there shouldn't be any HUGE surprises... but your right... slow and easy... its hard to not want to just take over... but the wife has been doing this for the entire time VERY well.. so it will be a nice break for me...
