I don't understand why people get so upset with him changing his mind.  I'm not a Favre lover or hater.  He is just another guy to me so I can be biased.

The way I see it football is the only job the guy ever had and he's freaking retiring in his 40's.  Thats a pretty young retirement age.  I hear of people in their 60's retiring getting bored and going back to work.  If he wants to come back thats his business.  If Green Bay doesn't want him or has already moved on, release him.  Thats their business.

As a Favre fan, I'm on the fence about this. On one hand I think he has been the man in GB for so long and can still play and be productive so if he wants to come back, bring it on.

On the other hand, I think he should make a solid decision and stick to it. He's been back and forth the past couple years and its put a strain on the GB management with draft picks, Aaron Rodgers, the fans and everything else.

If they do give him a release to play somewhere else, I bet that release will be loaded with conditions that won't let him QB for anyone in the NFC Central and possibly not any team that may be a threat to win the SB. If he doesn't agree to the terms of release (if release is offered), he might be holding a clipboard and calling plays in to Rodgers.

I hate to admit it, but Favre cannot play in the cold anymore; his body just won't do it.  This was evident in several games last year.  A Wisconsin team cannot have a QB that flubs in the cold...it's always freaking cold.

Since the day Brett announced his retirement, I've really liked the way Rodgers has handled this. His comments are great, a little cocky and surly. He really has been a straight-shooter and told it as it is. Basically he's said 'look, I'm not Brett, never will be Brett, I'm Aaron Rodgers and I'm going to do things my way.' I'm diggin' it.

You are correct, he has paid his dues.  I mean we've had an offseason retire/not retire bunch of drama for several seasons now, not that that bothers me, but I'm sure it wasn't paricularily pleasant for Rodgers.

I don't think Brett can help another team at this stage of his career, but he knows the players that surrounds him in Green Bay, and chemistry goes along ways in team sports.

If my memory serves me correct,  Mr. Rodgers has had two season ending injuries thus far in the pros.  Boith scrambling in the pocket!!!!   He's waited for awhile, but he hasn't proven anything yet,

When has Rodgers proved he could play in the cold????  For a season??

The bottom line is the Brett announced his retirement FOR SURE and stated in no uncertain terms that this was the end.

At that point, Green Bay had to make plans to move forward, and to undercut Rogers at this point would be extremely detrimental to team moral and would kill Rogers confidence at this point.

Imagine Aaron Rogers as a starter with "the legendary" Brett Favre standing on the sidelines every game.... The first time Rogers had a bad game, the crown would be chanting "Favre...Favre...Favre.." This would be unacceptable.

I also greatly respect Favre and this Green Bay should release him. If he wants to play at this point, he should be allowed to play. He has payed his dues.

I understand the Coaches decision but also understand Favre's.

Tip-  Do you mean pro-Favre or anti-Favre protesters?  I ask because they've had pro-Favre rallies as far south as State Fair Park.

Matt-  I never said Rodgers can play in the cold, I just said Favre can't.  I've watched almost every single game he has ever played at the pro level; he simply can't get it done in the bitter cold anymore.  

I do agree with you on Rodgers and the injury bug.  I'm very concerned about that.  But hey, we've been spoiled with Favre and his ironman streak.  If Rodgers goes down, we'll finally know what it feels like to have the Pack's starter miss a game.  I'm glad they drafted Brian Brohm just in case.

Had enough of the Brett Farve lovefest whenever the Packers are doing good. He's a good guy and all, but when he's in the playoffs, or close, sports announcers talk about Brett like they want to date him.

I've also had enough of the "will he retire" frenzy at the end of every season.

He's one of the greats, for sure, but I think its time for him to be put to pasture.

ill tell you what ... im a cheese head ,,, lived in green bay for 10 years pluse .... brett favre is still in the top 5 qbs out there .... if brett wants to come back ,,, roll the red carpet ....  A-rod needs to hit the back seat or hit the bricks as far as im concered ... as a person who has lived in green bay i know BRETT is green bay .... there is a share holders meeting coming up this week ,,, the topic is brett .... welll see what happens ... i will say ,, i have spoke to many share holder ... most have said if brett doent return Ted Thompson will get walking papers ... i would also like to note  Ron Wolf old GM of the green bay packers just baught a house in thorn berry creek in green bay ( some may think we may need a GM soon ).... so for now brett is in a pi**ing contest with ted and mike ... see there are concerns whit ol ted ... since brett left packers family night didnt sell out .... you may say why is this wierd ,,, well packers familiy night has sold out since i can remember ... people would camp to get tickets ... now if green bay throws brett to the side ,,, i bet the games wont even sell out ... and this doesnt happen in green bay ... i believe ted should pack his bags and hit the bricks .... he can take his golden boy rodgers with him .... everyone one here knows ted wants to be the next Ron Wolf ,,, thats why he wants his rodgers out there .... thats fine and dandy but if a green bay legened wants to play send the kid to the pourch ....  ;D just my thoughts

Not very many teams or individuals can play in extreme cold conditions.   You don't ever get used to that and the pounding that comes with the cold on Sundays.

     I always say proof is in the pudding.    

Say what you want over the past 3-4 seasons, talent stunk, RB position has been injury plagued for his past 4-5 seasons putting the pressure on Brett to do what he did when he came into the league, be a gunslinger.   And his receiving core wasn't the best surrounding him either.  Key losses seasons past with Walker leaving and such.

   I think being one game short of the Super Bowl speaks for what Bret did last year.    By the way, how do you judge someone?

   From past results!   Last years results showed he can still play.

Lots of the great QB moved on to finish their careers.   Unitas, Namath, Montana all finished elsewhere.
