Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 15, 2008 Super User Posted July 15, 2008 I have a close friend that is a Cav scout in the PA National Guard STRYKER Brigade. He will be leaving for training in September and shipping out around the first of the year. As a small token, three of us went whitewater rafting in the Yough river in PA. Let me tell you....ITS A BLAST!!!! We are already looking to schedule another one before he leaves, this time doing it even bigger than before. We did class III and IV yesterday, looking to do a IV-V+ on the next one. Anyone else out there ever experienced the power of a river? Quote
RiskKid. Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I've been a whitewater canoist for many years. I have done a number of rivers up to class III & IV. The V's were a bit much for me although I've rafted some. With my advanced age I mostly stick with class II & easy III's these days. I went last weekend and had a ball. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 15, 2008 Super User Posted July 15, 2008 This is THE BOMB! http://www.arkansasrivertours.com/arkansas-river-royal.htm The downside is, if you fall out of the raft, you're probably going to die. : Quote
Super User Tin Posted July 15, 2008 Super User Posted July 15, 2008 Yup, did the Hudson and Mohawk in upstate New York. They were class 3 and 4 rapids. The best part is when you paddle back up river and put the nose into the rapid and surf it. So the raft pulls a Titanic and the back raises straight up into the air. I enjoyed it but 10 hours on the river and hour bus rides are a little much. My butt hurt to say the least. Quote
fishbear Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Whitewater rafting is a blast. Did Hells Canyon on the Snake River, and have rafted the Deschutes in Oregon several times.... always a blast Quote
Super User Root beer Posted July 16, 2008 Super User Posted July 16, 2008 Been there done that! had a lot of blast. Cant wait to go again. Quote
Evan Pease Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Hit the New river. I had some friends do that recently, too. Ive gotten in to kayaking in the last few months. I dont get to go often though. So far Im just class II but hopefully Ill work on up. Quote
